By the same logic, anyone who buys the expansion pack (when it comes out) is going to have an advantage and therefore by your logic, the expansion pack should either be free to give everyone the same advantage (NOT going to happen) or not release an expansion pack.

a strange thought just struck me.
if it would give no advantage of any sort why does a *we NEED more slots* thread keep popping up?
why did this thread pop up and why did people sign it?

People need more slots because some players like to PvE and PvP, and like to do PvE with different professions, while still being able to do PvP with anything they've unlocked, using PvP equipment.

What if a person likes to play mesmers, necromancers, and rangers too?
Could someone explain to me how someone with a double account has more of an advantage over a single account person than someone with two accounts has over the same single account person?

anyway to get more slots is Doable. Pay-to-upgrade, buy a new account, merge accounts, whatever your poison, I would LOVE! To see a way for more space simply for the fact of unlocking everything my 800+ hours of gameplay have gotten me. You know, it's not hard with code to simply increase slots..but even if they have to increase server space, across all their customers, it's still not going to equal a whole lot in the long run
I love this idea more then words can express, and whether you "Can afford it or not" <And just FYI, I can't even afford it, but i'd sell my kidney for more character slots so I don't gotta delete a char I put +200ish hours into to experiment with another>
Char-space? Ding ding ding,
Char-space over kidneys? Ding ding ding.

I would like more slots, but only if you can transfer and close CD-Keys so you can use it again on the same account for more space (including Exporting characters)

I suggested this to Guildwars support as well, they said I should try posting on a forum so here I am agreeing with this thread. Another idea as suggested elsewhere is add the option to pay a small amount per additional slot for an account, maybe £5 or similar amount per extra slot. 4 is simply not enough if you play PvE and want to play PvP as well, and will only become more problematic if more classes are added in expansions.
At the very least allow multiple copy holders the option to merge their accounts, especially if expansions are per account only i.e. you would have to buy the expansion twice to use it on two accounts = very unfair.

I have 2 accounts and it doesn't really bother me... my only problem is that I can't transfer items from one account to the other (I only have 1 pc). But I understand your point:

I have always felt that the character slot limit should be 8 rather than 4 as a baseline on any single account anyway (that gives you room for one each of every primary class and then two extras to play around with), but this at least would be a step toward that direction. The big downside I see is that storage space is already a major concern for the vast majority of players and adding 4 more characters to the same account without increasing the size of the storage space would make it that much more of a problem. But the idea does have some merit, so...

And the storage problem...
Keep a little bit on each character! Reserve your belt or something... On eight characters, that's 40 spots. Use the Xunlais when you need character to character transfer, and there you go.

i have been saying this for awhile too. i would hands down buy a second account if this were made possible - but since it is not - i wont.
However (sorry i do have one question); would there be a limit to how many character slots one could purchase? is there a legitimate reason why it should not reach 8, 10, 12 characters?
Why doesn't A-net just make an option for people where they could just purchase additional character slot s for a price say $10 off their website? On Eq you can do things like change servers for a fee, change names for a fee.
why cant we just buy character slots for a fee?
Shmash
anyway - still /signed

A letter to A-Net about character slots. --{{Petition anyone?}}--
I wrote a letter directly to Guild Wars Support asking them about this and they said to put it on a fan site. So here it is, copied & pasted:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I recently had an idea to make both sides happy. Here's what I thought up:
Chapter two is around the corner and with it comes new professions such as the Assassin. People are upset that they can only have four character slots. They want more, so in turn A-Net gives it to them with the installation of chapter two. The thing is, people want enough slots to have one of every profession. On the other hand, people still want that extra slot for a pvp character. So why not give it to them? If you gave the people enough slots as the amount of professions there are PLUS an extra slot for a pvp creation people would be able to try out one of each main profession as well as make a pvp character.
Now, some people use slots to make pre-made characters. So they'd only have one pve and the rest pvp. Giving them more slots would still make them happier as a customer.
In the end I believe you'd see much more customer satisfaction this way and more people telling their friends to buy the game because of what a great job A-Net/Nc Soft is doing for them in customer satisfaction. This might increase your revenues as well has people more willing to stay with this game if they can reach lvl 20 with each and every one of their characters. In the end, A-Net would end up with longer staying customers than what it is right now and people feel as if they have to always delete their other profession to make a new one or buy a totally new game of Guild Wars.
Don't know if anyone thought of that before or if it's just going to be ignored, but just some thoughts from a very satisfied customer with helpful ideas.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Petition this if you want. I don't really care, but I'd really like to see it implimented. A-Net would just be making more money off of its customer's happiness.

actually, what i would like at least is the 4 character slots now PLUS one PVP ONLY slot, cause my main account has 4 characters with most the skills unlocked but not enough gold to buy the weapons i'll need (ie +15% >50%, etc) but i don't want to lose the 15k armor i alread bought <_< and my second account is still waiting for most of the skills to be unlocked(and upgrades)
so at least give us a pvp slot ;_;
