Petition for the angry ruined wintersday player
If wintersday was too short and your missed your chance, then here's the place to express your grief.
I was working from 2pm to 6am est. I missed it and am pretty pissed about it. This sort of thing should be around for 24hrs. halloween was ruined for me, and now wintersday.
I MAY BOYCOTT CHAPTER 2.

Yeah. They said they understood people were angry about missing halloween. They said they were not having winters day on christmas because they didn't want folks to miss it. They said this would not be like halloween.
YET they had the same type of thing, just as short. Anyone old enough to leave the house and enjoy New Years Eve missed this.

PvE gets a taste of anets broken promises for a change.
So i'll honor this thread with a typical PvE player response to a PvP thread.
"OMG Anet is great, when will you stop complaining, play some other game please."

Though I was in for both Halloween and Wintersday myself and did the stuff, I understand a lot of people missed it. Putting it on New Year's Eve was stupid. The 30th December or New Year's Day would have been more sensible.
And, they should do these things for longer time periods.

I was on for both. And skipped both. I liked the skins for the towns and such but am really just not into the games and such. We did team up with our friends from FZN to do the holiday quests tho. Those were kind of fun.

I am also sad but not angry on Anet.
I had to work on 31.12 and today on 1.1. And i had/have no chance to get online. The event is just too short. It should be 3 days long.

Completely true. I'm one of those who missed all of yesterday's Dwayna-Grenth confrontation in LA since i was away to celebrate New Year’s Eve with my family.
Next time, they should make it longer, like 2 or 3 days or like mentioned above the 30th or even the 29th of December.
Nobody leaves home for 2 days during Halloween. Most parents leave with their kids to get some candy and even they were probably able to come back for the 9PM event.
As for New Year’s Eve, IMHO it's a complete different story.
I don’t want to sound like a brat because i didn’t have my antlers or Santa's hat. But it seems some people were "penalized" because God (Anet) forbid anyone to leave for the holidays. If you want your Wintersday present, don’t leave to see your family! Stay at home or if you really have to leave, buy a laptop and play Guild Wars during your New Year's Eve party instead of celebrating with your family! It only happens one day and one day only!

I was having so many connection issue, I consider myself lucky that I got 1 hat. I was also disapointed at how short this was, I know a lot of people in LA at 6 am EST who feel the same way. At least make this a 24 event.

I'm sure the local newspaper will do a story on someone boycotting the game for not getting a Yule Cap.
What is the loss of not gaining an item that gives you no benefits and whos novelty wears off in about 30 seconds? I got a hat for one of my characters, smiled at it for 30 seconds, then took it off and returned to playing the game. How many people still run around with pumpkins on their head? Not many (and most that do just did it for the holiday). Life isn't fair. Be happy you even have a job.

You couldve just put your character in Lions Arch and turned off the monitor.

loooooool
this is the funniest thing ever, how old are you?
I am getting tired of all these complaint threads about the most irrelevant things. You know what? You could have logged your character on and turned off the monitor and continued with life! You know what you missed? A hat, yup you won't believe it. A HAT! You are crying over a hat, a hat that is worthless and of no importance. Same for halloween you missed a pumpkin crown, oooooh NO! These things are not important and if you really wanted one you shpuld have logged on and left your computer on. I find your comment about boycotting chapter 2 unbelievably funny and cute. You sound like a little child throwing a tantrum and frankly if you pass Chapter 2 by I surely won't miss you. Guild Wars needs less complainers and cry babies and Yes that is what you are, simple as that!

Wintersday event started early after noon for most time zones so people had time to get their hat/antlers then go party. (If people had to work well thats a different story)

On one hand, like many have said, you could've afk'ed in LA while at work.
On the other, yeah, the event should've lasted longer.
Me personally? I was here at noon and got hats for all my chars in one event. Got my shit taken care of so I could party last night.

I realize that Anet wanted to leave some surprise factor in the Wintersday finale, but a lot of the unhappiness that some of the player base is experiencing could have been avoided by releasing some more information about places and times.
Admittedly, I didn't search around too much for details about the finale, but if the players knew more about what was happening, they would have had the opportunity to make arrangements to be logged in to the appropriate district at the appropriate time.
Personally, I thought Wintersday (including the finale) was an excellent event. I logged in early, asked around LA for the scoop, left GW minimized all day, and periodically opened it up to move characters around to get hats.
