In game Gambling Halls.....
I and others I know(Guildmates/Friends) would think it would be great if there were Gambling Halls in GW that we could get together at and play gambling games like:
Ascalon Draw(5-card draw poker)
Lions Arch Hold Em(Texas Hold Em poker)
Droknars Stud(7-card Stud poker)
Amnoon Poker(Pai Gow Poker)
Denravi Wheel(Roulette)
Now I will elaborate. This could be an awesome gold sink as well as a great way to move gold between players. I suggest Anet charge an entry fee of say 100g for entry into the Gambling Hall(s) and there be a "Buy in" for each game of say 50g this goes back to Anet(Gold sink) now the game of Poker is basically the players playing each other not the house so this would help move gold amongst the players. The Gambling Halls would also give players that have just finished tough missions or are tired/bored with adventuring something else to do with their friends(as opposed to finding some other game to play).
Now as for where/how:
Where:Well it can be setup as an Outpost where X# of players can walk up to a dealer(NPC) and play, or it can be instanced where up to 8 friends that want to play can team up and enter it, like a mission/arena.
How: Well seeing as the geniuses @ Anet know how to program such an amazing game like GW in the first place(yes some sucking up), I'm sure making some simple card/gambling games would be a stroll in the park. Or Anet/NCSoft could buy a license to use an already established Card/Poker/Casino game from a partner/Some Other company and convert it for use in GW(Whichever is easier)

Personally, I love gambling and all forms of card games.
However, would it be wise to expose children to such blatant betting on games of chance? (albeit virtual). I do know that Gambling can be a serious addiction, so I am in kind of two minds as to whether this would be a good idea or not.

I like this idea, though not the bit about having 8 friends enter a mission. If I don't have any friends (I do) I should be able to just enter and play with anyone. Also I think the games (not necessarily all) should be new and not real world games that must be learned and strategies thought of. This way I won't end up playing Hold 'Em against a pro or something like that and gurantee lose my gold.

I shall be run over by a steam roller and then trampled on by a herd of elephants before I see Guild Wars turn into online poker.

Dude, texas hold em with a troll dealer... signed!!!!!
I love farming and doing Pvp but sometimes it does get a little old. I would like to have a place where people can come together and talk, let loose, stuff like that. You could have poker and black jack tournaments as well. Also, there should be two areas, one for people playing just for fun and another area where you can put up your own gold up. Have a system like party poker where you have a high and low end tables. I don't know, just some thoughts.

I don't want to see poker being played... granted it's fun and such but don't bring it into GW. I'd agree with something less... shall we say, real? The dice game that they had I liked but that was done away with mostly, I believe. Eh overall though, gambling is not necessary.

Exposing them to slaughtering people/animals & human like creatures(albeit virtual) is ok with you though?(not a flame, just pointing out the obvious)
For anyone that says they don't like it, don't participate in it(should they implement it)(I don't like PvP so I just don't participate in it, I don't begrudge the people that do PvP or Anet for creating new PvP content) Also mayhaps a valid reason why you don't like it may help(as opposed to the valid reasons why it would be good for the game of GW as I stated :Economy,Something else for players to do besides fight/GRIND etc)
And yes I know where all the free gambling and other types of games are located, but my friends/guildmates and I would rather not leave GW to go play them(Balthazar forbid that we find other games we'd rather play together and possibly lose interest in GW and not purchase further GW merchandise) For those that may not have gotten that statement, It would behoove Anet to keep GW interesting/worthwhile/REPLAYABLE for those of us that have played since betas & those that are seeking some more variety/DIVIRSITY.

So..they remove the /roll emote to stop players from gambling in games..to add a casino feature?
And its been proven that gambling is addicting,Trying to compare it to slaying mythological monsters is absolutely retarded.

You mean, play the game?
If I'm not mistaken, 90% of the game is fighting things.
Sorry, if you're not into fighting, it doesn't look like this is the game for you.
But please, don't go down trying to drag everyone else down to a new low. I would rather not have even less chance of getting a team in Tombs because half the people are off trying out the gambling houses.

Well said. Though, the roll function was only removed in towns/outposts. Go out into the wild and you can still gamble with other people in a party.
