Remove Candy Canes from the game after winter's day
Why? Because Candy Canes aren't in the spirit of the game. If you go out and lose, DP is nothing because you can erase it. Yeah, they'll become harder and harder to find eventually, but the game is based on skill, not on how many candy canes you stored up on to erase your DP. DP is part of skill in the game. Yeah, I'd like them to keep some collectors around to trade food items that remove DP, but that's like saying you need to get ITEMS before you can go out, that aren't weapons. It's like other games where you need potions, etc. This is based on skill, and keeping these will take away from Guild Wars.

They aren't being removed from the game. And the game is what you make of it. If you want to have meaningless DP, and the game allows you to, then you now can. However, if you find DP that much of a problem, you might be dying too often. In that case, you will run out rather fast :P Also, other people using them in no way detracts from your fun of the game. You don't like them? Don't use them. The only place they will ever cause a problem is in PvP, but they aren't useable in PvP.

[PREDICTION=King Symeon]I figure pretty much everyone who knows what they are and what they do is stocking up on them/has stocked up on them. I have about 30 something, which actually isn't much. A lot of people are probably trying to farm collectors items so they can get hundreds of the stuff. They think they will keep it, wait a bit, then sell it in hoardes. Others, like me, are simply saving them to remove DP.
Now, when those people try to sell them in their hundreds. There will be hundreds of people doing it. People who don't have any probably don't know what they are, in which case they would, unless they are a total 'n**b', ignore it. In which case, there will be more buying than selling, and they will find that if they do sell any it will be for a very low price. Even if they waited an entire year to sell them, there would probably be others doing the same to almost no avail.[/PREDICTION]

Or, like me, they are collectors, and want to be able to use them without using all they got.

they will run out of candycane someday.
and having to need to rely on candycane in pve is not an indication of skill...
let them use their cc if they want to.

I have over 200 now and will use them only in FoW, UW, and SF. Perhaps when skill capping. You are at a slight disadvantage because you are giving up a skill slot (or two) for cap sigs.
On the economic side of it -- as the supply goes down the price goes up. And when they are used, they are gone. There may be cycle of prices of sell offs for the people who have thousands of them, but in the end they will cost more.
Plus with Ch.2 coming out, poeple will really want them as they explore the new areas.

exactly.
my intent is to wait until my dp is 60% and i have explored everything i can and when i come to the end of the area with that big glowing *WHAT THE HE** IS THAT?* facing me i will pull out that trusty candy cane and charge on to victory (or die again)
also runners in the new areas might want to pull out a CC to continue a very difficult run instead of starting over while they tune new builds and learn the best routes.

I agree with Kai that they are a little annoying, but unless you are handing them out to everyone in your party, they won't be that broken. A party isn't going to be able to move forward if only one person has a candy cane - the rest of them will still be DP'ed out... and if they do bring enough to share, well, then the supply should run out pretty quick.

there is absolutely no reason they can annoy you when they are used by other people. Thats like saying I find a PUG very annoying when they have their capes hidden. What ever man.
Keep the canes. I got 100+ spread across my 4 characters and I fully intend to use them until they are all out.

The candy canes will diappear so fast you won't have time to complain. Sure there are thosands around. However you have to relize the avarage W/Mo noob raises his DP up to 60 in about 3 mins and seeing how there are thosands of them I predict that these become so rare that they sell for 10k EACH by Feb.

and I don't think anyone has pointed this out (but I could be wrong), they don't work in PvP, they're only PvE... so there is no (NO) disadvantage to having them... they'll only help you by not handicapping your team mate... (but I could be wrong, I've never tried them in PvP, I'm just assuming because you can't open the winter gifts in any PvP area, you probably can't use candy canes)

I don't think that is what anyone is saying here. Just when you lose a player in a hard mission, you've gotten really far and you don't want to turn back... Plus we've all been in PUGs where one person screws everyone else one way or another. Perfectly legitimate to break out the ol' candy cane, IMHO.
Giving money to Lyssa's statue is not really all that skillful either, but she blesses you with morale anyway because she can, and you want her to.

One guildie alone has nearly 1,000. No type-o. And many others in the guild have 100-300 CC each. So, it may take a while for them to raise in price as I am sure hundreds of other people have thousands upon thousands of CC as well. And who knows what the update may bring. Maybe a monk can remove a % of DP as a skill?
Hats off to ANet for keeping it interesting in the short term and makes you wonder about the future. Never thought Id still be playing this game for 8 months.

I've saving a stack to sell at some point. Since poeple were buying skulls for 100-200g a pop, I bet I'll be able to sell my stack for 250k in a few months.
And if not? It was fun wandering around and exploring that area for a few days. Just like it was fun being able to run around and actually enjoy the mineral springs for a change.

Well to the OP, then i guess many in the game do not appreciate the "spirit of DP"
Just look at all those who go "REZ ME!! REZ ME!! REZ ME!!" when they die in missions, and quit shortly after. Nuff said abou those.
