Official GWWC finals Videos
I'm not sure if they're planning this already, but I'd like to see ANet make available high-quality videos of the finals of the GWWC.
Since Observer Mode games are viewable 15mins after the games themselves, I assume that the GW servers have the ability to record the movement/action data of a match in a machine-readable form.
I think it would be a good idea if ANet uses that data from the GWWC finals to produce an edited, high quality video.
It would:
- Be at a consistent high framerate (ie, play back the data at the frame rate of the recording, rather than play it back in real time and hope the recording is fast enough)
- Focus on interesting parts of the battle at the correct times. (Rather than the majority of pvp videos which generally follow one of the monks around etc.)
- Have sound, and/or commentary.
- Have post-processing effects such as zooming in, or slow motion, or instant replay, of nice-looking or important parts of the battle.
For a while now I've been trying to find some nice GvG videos to show off GW to friends who havent played the game. However, all the player-made videos I've seen are completely uninteresting to a casual observer - you cant really tell what's going on, the action and graphics are boring (since people usually dont use impressive spells like Meteor Shower or Inferno that much in pvp), and it's really just a confusing mess of people running around waving their arms.
Not to mention framerate and image quality tends to be bad, since the videos were recorded in realtime. I hope ANet gets its act together and makes some really cool videos so I can get all my friends onto GW
