im one of the many with 2 accounts. i think 6 slots would be plenty. even 5 would suffice (taking into account new professions) if personal storage and bank storage were both increased. i absolutely love the account merging idea, but i knew id have to unlock everything again when i bought the second one so you wont hear me complain about that.
i dont think we will ever be able to pay cash for more storage or slots. even though buying 4 slots for $50 would be the same as buying a new acct (minus the whole unlocking thing), ANET would still lose in the long run, as less expansion sets would be sold. i personally will end up shelling out the cash for 2 chapter 2's now, whereas if i could have bought one game and paid $50 for more slots, id only have to buy one chapter 2.
all this said, as long as theres no monthly fee, im happy with whatever extra they give us.

I'd like 6-8, but I'm willing to wait until the expansion (with additional character classes) comes out. It seems fair that if you buy the expansion, you get additional slots, since you are continuing to support the game/developer with two purchases.
BTW, we shouldn't make decisions based upon how others might misuse it. The vast majority of players will not abuse the system, and those that are will do so whether these changes are made or not.

8 slots please.
The is no reason to restrict people to 4 slots. I want to be able to have access to the PvE portion of the game with all 8 character "primaries" just because that would extend my enjoyment of the game and keep me from getting bored with it.
Saying that 8 slots would destroy the economy or give power players an edge, is rediculous!!! There is no money difference in my account between me having had 1 character or 4. I was broke then, I'm broke now. I could have been sitting on that money and I'd have a million by now, or I could enjoy the game and spent that money for trips into UW or Fow, or buying items just to try them and because I never seen or had them before and actually ENJOY the game, instead of making it a "business".
The point is.. whether you'll have 4 slots or 8, it will make no difference on the grand scale. People who are already rich, will be rich no matter what. People who are poor will remain poor, or mabe they'll have a chance to at least get richer because they'll have access to more options of getting money. Think about it. What can one possibly do whith their million gold after they have it? Say you got the best weapons for your character, and the coolest looking armor. What else is there to spend money on? Aside from giving it away, nothing. That is good. And if some ppl will keep farming just to sell their money or items on e-bay, that's their business, and if you are pissed off about it, you're just jealous cause you couldnt do that yourself. Enjoy your life and your game, and stop thinking about what other people do and how rich or cool they are as opposed to you.
P.S: If this whole thing is about Anet loosing money, then this is another story, and I understand. In that case I'm willing to pay $50 more, to extend my account by 4 more slots. NOT buy another copy and have to unlock everything all over again.

That's what we're seeing with the CGW article ... The statement about additional character slots should not have been "you get one" because there has been no final decision made yet (and hadn't been back when the article was written).
Please try not to get too carried away with this. Your feedback is being reported back to the dev team, so now you know for sure that when a final decision is made your views will have been taken into account (pun not intended).

Don't believe I've signed this. But if they ever look at this and see how we feel...then I'd like to add my name to this.
Vilaptca would like to have more character slots. He has already deleted 3 level 20 characters each, having reached the RoF missions, just because he wanted to try a different profession. Its not fun at all.
4 is too little. We are only asking for a couple more slots, like 2.

We need one slot per class and one additional slot for a PvP character (we only really need one slot per class, since you can change your secondary to try out all possible class combinations). That would give us 7 slots in Chapter 1 and 9 slots in Chapter 2.

though I really think this should only be implemented in Guild Wars:Factions as 4 slots = using all 8 char types. 6 would be a smige better though, as it makes the user choose their favorites, even though they still get to use all the types. for the current version, maybe a bump to 5 char slots is max. Ever seen Ragnarok Online? (a rather outdated mmorpg, but thats not the point). They PURPOSELY did one char slot less that the max 1st professions. Of course, private servers did about 9 slots...and all those crazed boosts. The point is, people gotta just find their fave char and live with it. Of course, some only have the time for 1 char, and others could use 1bil of them.

Guild Wars absolutely and definitely needs at least 2 new character slots with the expansion, possibly even 3, in my opinion.

I'm to lazy to crosslink to my own posts, but as I've said numerous times, for many good reasons (Or I consider them to be), anything less than one slot per primary is too little.
As it stands right now, there are not enough slots. Maybe with luck they'll fix it in Factions.

My realistic approach: Make character slot expansions purchaseable. Figure 1/4 the initial cost of the basic game. So, about $10-$12.50 USD should keep A.Net on track for their buisness plan, and give us the desired extra character slot.
Yes, I'd pay almost $15 USD to get another character slot. Just one more (to go with the slot coming with GW:F), please!

I ran into an interesting problem when I bought my second account. I only had 1 email address. I had to get a friend to invite me to gmail again and I now have two gmail accounts just to have a second GW account. It's silly. They really need purchaseable slot expansions.
As for just adding more slots at no cost to us, I highly doubt that's going to fly. They do have to maintain their servers you know, and that costs them money.
