My monk wears 15k Wanderer's. I bought it. Why can't a monk I create for a quick GVG wear it too? I earned it myself, after all.
I see no reason for this not to be implemented.

Aesthetics = PvE
Skills and functionality = PvP
If you want a PvP character with 15k armor, create a PvE character, go farm to buy it, go farm to get perfect weapons, and go farm to unlock all 450 skills on that character. Now you can PvP on a comparable level.
Quote:
An extreme cost would be 10k faction to unlock one piece from one armor type for one class. Then it would take 40k faction to unlock a single set of armor.
|
In the same time I get 15k + materials ATM with all the nerfed farming places, I could get 2 pieces of 15k armor unlocked through PvP. 10k is rediculous, especially since Faction can now be farmed on the Battle Isles.
The only time you should be allowed to have a 15k armor on a PvP character is if you lose the armor when you delete the charcater. That would be fair. You buy the armor for your W/x, but if you want to reroll him as a W/y, you lose it and have to rebuy it again.
Besides, I doubt ANet is going to give you 15k armors, because
A) They were intended as goals for the farmers, the PvE farmers
B) Once you get those, you'll start complaining why the PvE players get nicer weapon models

Yeah, this is probably the only way I would agree with it. Still means you have to get it in PvE first, but at least you can put it on in PvP to show that you're not a total PvP person.

Why wouldn't you be able to use greens in pvp? Can't you just stick it from PvE into your storage and use it with your PVP? err.....

"Signet of Minor Disapproval"
-15k Armor is a PvE goal, period.
-The "reward", i.e. the feeling of accomplishment, of attaining the 15k armor, is not fictional. So it's hardly an arrogent position to defend limiting the opportunity to aquire it to those who work for it.
-I would agree with the unlocking of the armor in PvP THROUGH PvE, that's fair. That would create a great gold sink if you had to unlock every piece of every armor. And we need more gold sinks.

I hate to jump in on a topic I thought was long dead ago, but somehow it keeps popping up.
Unlocking armor for PvP isn't some stupid idea that no one likes.
Otherwise we wouldn't suggest it.
PvP'ers love the game just as much as PvE'ers do.
If we don't want to fight monsters with the same name for gold drops should we be punished?
I mean alot of us are willing to do the extra few miles just to make our characters look better.
High faction costs, unlocking first in PvE before you can unlock it in PvP.
I've done my fair share of farming in PvE, but you know what I'm done with that chapter for now.
It's not like PvP'ers never PvE'ed in their life.
I'm sure I can safely say that everyone that has played Guild Wars, has played the PvE portion.
Us PvP'ers just decided that we love PvP so much we are willing to make 1 or 2 slots specifically just for PvP purposes.
I know I can safely say, no matter what I get for my PvE character, whether it be FoW armor, perfect weapons, or anything.
I would never bring a PvE character into PvP, because I have a PvP slot for a reason... and it's for PvP.
I mean I've gotten over that I want FoW armor, 15k armor, and other stuff, but I mean seriously.
If we are willing to put in the work and time for these items, why can't we have them?

PvE'rs can do the /rank emote. Why can't PvP'rs use 15k armor after unlocking it in PvE?

I choked on my coke on that one.
Also, /unsigned If you want the advantages of PVE in PVP, do the time in PVE. PVP players already get a free jump into PVP from day one. Free armor, free weapons, nice mods, everything to be competitive from day 1. PVEers have to work for what we get and I certainly build my PVE characters up to eventually play PVP, with their FoW armor/15k armor and nice green or gold drop kewl LOOKING weapons and equipment. That's OUR reward for playing the PVE game which we deserve. (smile)

Those premades are competitive. Competitive doesn't mean the BEST, but, they are competitive none the less and have elites and good skills in all of them. And the game wasn't designed for PVP to crossover into PVE, GW's was designed to play PVE UP to PVP. But, they were nice enough to give those too lazy to PVE a little bit, but, you aren't going to get the whole cake and caboodle until you play the game as it was intended PVE to PVP. (smile)

(2)Yes we get armor and weapons, but not skills, mods and other stuff needed to be competitive in pvp. And if pve players started at lvl 20(i.e. "free jump") wouldnt that defeat the purpose of pve?

I would only agree to having a set of 15K unlocked for PvP if you got it in PvE. That way only people who have earned it can use it for PvP characters.
Otherwise no. I see no reason why PvP exclusive players should have the ability to suit up their PvP characters anytime with 15K or Fissure for free, when PvE'ers have to bust their asses just to get one set for one character.

No, I would say definately not. I try to stay away from topics like this for a while but every now and then I've got to throw in an opinion right?
My PvE character doesn't get free dye for his armor. My PvE character doesn't get a massive menu of weapons and other equipment to choose from, free of charge, my PvE character doesn't get buy every single weapon/skill/focus item/shield/rune equipment upgrade for a fair, reasonably set price like PvP characters do---to use on EVERY PvE character I set up no less, not even once I've beaten the game. Why the HELL should PvP characters be able to unlock 15k armor, without having to buy the materials or craft them, and be able to use it on ALL of the PvP characters they make of that profession when my PvE character has to...earn the money for the materials, go craft the materials if I need to, sometimes even play the market (because material prices CHANGE unlike every single thing you unlock with faction), etc---when a PvP character could just boom, get some faction, unlock it and there he has it for all his PvP characters of that profession (which would be a must for the most part, being that people delete/remake PvP characters frequently).
No. PvE players have to do quite a lot to get their unique armors, and they have to put up with a lot more stupid shit (like trading, finding reasonable prices for EVERYTHING, etc) to get their characters maxed than a PvP character. They have the right to a certain bonus when it comes to how your character looks, I'd have to say. If you give PvP characters 15k armor to unlock via faction, you better give me the ability to get whatever weapon/focus/shield etc from a huge menu for free, like a PvP character. And while you're at it give PvE characters a huge trader that has a set price on every single maxed out weapon mod in the game so we can buy those just as easily as a PvP player can, 'eh?
I think you get my point. PvP only characters already have so many perks for their characters it's not even funny.

Its true PvP characters do have enough versatility already. Like I already said, want the armor, go grind. Its only fair. PvE characters look good in Tombs anyways. Its not so hard to get green items which are basically perfect weapons, and the armor just looks so much cooler. You don't need to grind materials if your a good PvP player. Do what I did and sell the Sigils then go buy buy buy!

FoW armour should be unlockable, as it has true advantages in PvP. 15k is purely cosmetic. For unlocking FoW, against 15k.
Oh, and I have nothing but contempt for the PvE people who think spending time "earns" them stuff. For that reason I think PvP players should get everything they want, as I find the "PvE gets special stuff" attitude repulsive. If you can't understand why PvP needs to be on an even footing you are in the wrong game, go gank each other in PK-land.
