More ranks in guilds!
Now, we have member, officer and leader as ranks in guilds. Why can't decide how many ranks there should be and also what the name of the ranks should be. For example: Boss(leader) General (next highest ranking) Ofiicer (3rd highest rank) Medic (4th highest rank) Warrior (5th highest rank)
Any coments?

The ranks are there for a reason; each has its own priviledges. And they are few.
Why have a forth and even fifth rank, what would be their special priviledges? If it is only about the name, and the 'idea' itself of having a rank, its pretty useless.

It should be that higher ranks need voting from the officers for kicking.
i.e.
Leader
Officers ( need to be leader appointed)
Senior Member (need leader, 2 officers to kick; made this by leader concensus)
VAlued Member (need leader, one officer to kick; made this by 2+ officer concensus)

The only thing that I could come up with is a midpoint officer/member level. This station would allow the member to recruit, but not remove new members. Only way I could ever see adding another rank...
Leader
Officer
Recruiter
Member
Other than that, I see no reason to change anything... the idea of needing a democratic method of removing people from the guild is a bit scary. What happens if someone is being a holy terror and there are 8 members and 1 officer present. I'd like to think that the officer would have the ability to dismiss the guilty party without contacting the Judge Advocate General's Officer and than forming a Court's Martial. It would just add unnecessary confusion.

A few guilds have a more expansive rank system, so I think they wouldn't mind the opportunity to be able to do this in-game than rather through their guild site or whatever. Customisable ranks would probably be the go, those who don't want ranks at all can be that way, and those that do can get all they want.

LifeInfusion's idea looks ok to me. Although in my opinion the leader must be able to configure the ranking in anyway he/she sees fit. You can have a button called "Create Member Type" which opens up a Window and then you can put in the member type, Promotion requirements, kick requirements and their roles/powers.

I think this is a great idea , I've been thinking along the same lines for ages and been meaning to post something. different ranks should have different levels of responsibility. It could also be used for new members of a guild to find out who is an experience member of the guild that will be able to help the new members.

Why? Its not like you can't do anything else. Maybe a recruiter class but the only two things officers can do are recruit and start GvG's.

and kick members.
what would be useful is a lower rank officer who can recruit and start GvG but not kick... sort of like a trial period i guess

No, i like the idea of a recruiter being able to kick and recruit. No more. Any further and you may as well make 'em an officer.

Leader (maybe be able to have more then one)
Guild councilor (second highest) or maybe have an option to change name to deputy leader etc.
Officer
Senior member
Member
Recruit

I don't personally see the point of another rank in the guild log, maybe the option to create more ranks if the guild leader would want to is better..

Good idea. Then you assign what privaliges each rank has.

Not only do we need the ability to add ranks, we need the ability to edit the titles. Leader and officer are too cold-cut for my taste, and the style of my guild. I have them labelled differently on the roster on our website.
What I would love to have for my guild is:
Founder ("Leader")
Elder ("Other leaders who discuss important things")
Captain ("Team leaders and recruiters")
Member ("Normal members")
Recruit ("In probation")

I guess it would not hurt to have more ranks... but I have been an officer for like 5 months and I have done nothing so I am not too sure how the other ranks would turn out.
