Pet ideas
Well we all have ideas for new pets in chapter 2, I have just a few
1. Crabs who wouldnt want a giant crab as a pet? thats just plain awesome
2. Panda, another thread said this and I think its a decent idea too, since cantha is basically asia.
3. BEETLE! I literally just got this idea now, a big hercules or stag beetle or something would be a great insect pet in comparison with the spider But they would call it a scarab or something I guess.
4. Snake? dunno what to add to this one
5. this isnt an idea, but more like to tell ya to keep away from flying pets, it will just be confusing I think to have a pet flying around you or hovering with the camera angles and all.

A snake that inflicts poison.. Me likes. True about the flying pets, but aerial attacks would be pretty cool as long as they just don't fly around pecking the heads of baddies.

Why would anyone want crabs?!?! Oh wait.. you mean the one with the 8 legs....
Since I am under warning about posting one line replies... here is the filler
Flying Pets has come uup few time before. I don't think they are good idea with the current ranger Beastmastery, but maybe a new class or new attribute would fill that role.
And what about a Giant Sloth?

Giant frogs, i mean come on, talk about Ribbet of DOOM, it'd rock, i dont really see how a Frog could be used offensivly but this is the guild wars universe were you can have a spider as a pet

I still can not believe they left the hippo out. Not only would it do loads of damage but you could use it as a one of them mount things that people always want.

I hope they add "range attack" type pets or ones with the ability to do so this time.
giant frog: tongue smack attack from 10ft.

um, lycan pets that turn into handsome boys or cute girls that follow you around in town ^^
serious one though.....what about special class type pets for <class>/ranger type....
hellhound or bonebeast for necro/ranger
psudo dragon, faeiry dragon and blink kitten for elementalist/ranger
medusa hatchling or spynx cub for mesmer/ranger
pheonix and fire monkey for monk/ranger
and lion or drake for the warrior/ranger
make it a special quest you can get once you get a certain way thru the game...and for ranger/<class>, i guess maybe an option where you can get same way thru the game, but rather than that type, yo can get maybe a dryan, centaur, niad or other green treehugger () type ecological tied partner maybe...

lol. No Dryan's, Cenaturs or Niads lol. They're all intelligent beings that can't be put as pets lol.

For someone who knows DnD, you'd known Centaurs do have gods of their own and thus intelligent beings too that wouldn't be captured as a Druid/Ranger pet.

yes, but since i have spent the last few months getting my in game ass handed to me by them, im in a bad enough mood to lump them in with the less inteligent things....i guess technically, dragons or any kind, sphynx and many other type of dnd monster would be unsuitable for pets in theory, but then, how come i cant talk to a maguma centaur and pursuade them not to pummel me?
cause its not totally connected to dnd, it just uses similar archetypes that we all recognise.
i mean, what did i ever do to a shiverpeaks dwarf, that i should be turned into slices of freshly served necro, on a crisp dwarfbread roll?

True. I just dont' like the idea that "Humans are superior" sort of thing in games like Guildwars.

its not necisarily that humans are superior, its more of a game mechaninc....
in dnd, you can stuff up your in game version of a pet...where as you cant here, unless you attack the critter you want to get as a pet.
i mean, if they used mechanics to allow a critter to actually choose to become your partner, it might be worth the trouble of hunting down a last of a handfull of inteligent critters to ask them to become your rangers partner
(and the humans are superior thing, it think its more of a, cant be arsed to make non-humans as player races, and we dont want the cries of, 'woe..they are coppying <insert name of other game, book, film or other media here>!')
