Guild Merging
This is just an idea in it's infancy, thought about it 2 minutes ago whilst trying to buy wood in LA lol. I am leader of my guild, which consists of about 5 members as i've just started it up, and i've looked at other invitations to join guild and I have always had a slight temptation to join them as i want to get involved with some GvG. The problem is I don't want to leave my guild dump my guildies, also when you have few members it is always a struggle to recruit new members.
So my big idea is how about merging Guilds? There would be 2 leaders and neither of the leaders can overthrow each other so the guild is joint run. The guild leaders only have power over officers and down.
There are a few things that would have to be bought into consideration though, such as Cape, Guild Hall, Name and Guild Ranking. But i'm sure if this idea is a good one then those things could be worked around with a little hard thinking.
Please give me your views on the idea and bring up any flaws/pointers about the idea.
Cheers.

Yes but surely that's easily worked around when merging? Just register the guild to 2 accounts. So therefore no account merging is involved...

I have been thinking this as well. However how would you get two "Guild Leaders" to agree on the cape, hall, and Name? A lot of times when someone makes a guild he/she is usually thinking that he wants to be in control and his say goes. Unless you know the other guild leader IRL, I personally dont think this would work. Just make alliances with other guilds.
My Guild has done that since we are a small guild as well, but do not want to be under the ruling of the other guilds. From what I have also seen is that if you have a huge guild, people get lost in the shuffle and go and try to find a smaller one where they can be noticed.
On the forums for the new factions it has said that guilds can form alliances or something to that matter, that can be an alternative for your guild in the near future...

With 2 guild leaders I think it would be pretty simple to agree on things... eventually they'd both agree on something. And the game is mainly about team work so running it together goes with the idea of the game I suppose.
I do think that alliances sounds good though, if that's already going to be available in Factions then there would be no need for Guild Merging.
I'd love to be part of a huge guild btw, that way I can always be assured that there would be someone there to help me more often than not should i need it.

I've been one of the leaders in a merged guild with 2 and must say that overall if the leaders trust each other it can work. But remember only one of you can truly have the leadership position on the guild screen and guildies tend to recognize only that person as a leader. Some other problems were: when there was a conflict between the me and the other leader who had the final decision, moving all members of both guilds into new was hard, and officers from old guilds were kinda leary about recognizing another person as their leader. Once again, since both leaders trusted each other, things eventually smoothed out and we had a good guild.

That sounds like an up point for the idea. With my idea there would be 2 people designated as leaders and recognised on the Guild Screen.
I still think that Capes and Halls etc would be a problem... could they be renewed upon guild merging? Perhaps actually keeping the 2 capes and having the option to choose which cape you wear like you can have the option whether to show the cape or not. Refreshing the rank back to 1000 so solve that problem for one. Or perhaps the guilds have to be of similiar ranks in order to merge. The Hall could possibly be rechosen free of charge? Just a few ideas that popped into my head just now... Let me know your thoughts.

Your idea would certainly have some promise for guild leaders who have multiple accounts also. I have one character who is only a member in the guild that I am the leader of...lol Anyway, if you had the ability to have two leaders then guild leaders could have all of their accounts characters as leaders of the guild. Just another spin on your idea
As for deciding on capes, hall, and the rank thing I think those are issues that might be a little tough to resolve, but still a neat idea.

Yea... is that just a reason to make a post? cuz you're only just agreeing and not putting in an input on what the thread is about...

I would suggest either that, or just one guild leader is the leader, most likely the bigger one, or the one requesting to merge, and maybe a new position in between officer and leader where the old leader goes. Like, i would happily merge my 2 person guild into one of my friend's guilds, and my only other guildie can onyl be on once a week...so it's kinda annoying.
/signed anyway.
