In Game Character Switcher
its kinda silly to logout to change characters and all i mean there is a way to transfer items between characters so why not a in game character switcher ?
you could put it in the menu list it would just have your current characters listed in a drop down list maybe click on one and just load it up

according to Anet (the sillies) it has to do with account security that they just wont give up
if you want a faster switch put your password in the shortcut so you relog in instantly and just click the next character.
it also avoids keyloggers as you dont make any keystrokes to log.
same way as FPS

I think it sounds good, but the fact that a-net left this out, makes me feel they had a reason for doing so. I couldn't tell you what it was, but I get the feeling there is a legitimate reason.
Edit: Just look up and you will see why they have it the way they do.

If you add in the command-line switch it's no more annoying any other RPG. As long as you're the only player using a given computer, this is really a non-issue.
An alternative would be to have a sort of tab in your storage, that lets you access the inventories of your other chars. I feel this would be best, since it would require the least amount of loading.

This is what I do, but I still like the idea. If you could just switch chars while at an outpost would be nice.

Why cant they just make an option to enable/disable this feature?
If you share your computer with others you could just disable this or if you are the only one that touches your computer (like me) then you can enable it.

A.Nets call, security issue, I find it annoying too, but not enough to make it go away. I'm glad A.Net tries to protect us from ourselves.
