non-exploitable upgrade crafter
I want to suggest a weapon-smith for upgrades:
Character puts a customised weapon + materials + gold in a crafting window and picks an unlocked upgrade to be added to the weapon.
To avoid exploitation it should only work for weapons customised for the crafting character and the added upgrades shouldn't be re-salvagable (flag it unsalvagable like greens).
oops: 'Weapon upgrades trader - would be able to sell you upgrades you have unlocked' is already in the Summary of Ideas list, sry

It would definitely make pve items alot easier to make into pvp quality items, but would deflate the weapon mod market. I don't think its that great of an idea, but thats my opinion. If you really need or want perfect weapons buy them or build them at market price or roll a pvp character.

I like the idea. Why farm for hours on end. It would be great to just craft an upgrade. "The Market" is crazy and something I still can't comprehend in a video game. Too many weapons and upgrades are so overprcied. I think a mod crafter would be great.

This is RPG game rite? What is the point that anyone can go to Ebay and buy gold to craft the weapons with out actually earn it by playing or farm some area for goods.
However Anet should make sure that when one acquires a rare weapon with max-upgrade then he or she should be able to savage it for the reward of their time. Yes you unlock it for PvPers but what about the PvE lovers.

More customization of weapons is a good thing, just make the mod requires additional related materials, such as icy mod, icy hump, just to make it interesting.

but then what if you ID say a bow and get 10/10 sundering and +30hp on a 14-27 shortbow and you want the 10/10 string but the anet coding says to give you the 30hp grip?

My suggestion is for using your unlocks on your customised weapons including a little money sink. Nothing to ebay except buying (gold for) the possible basic weapon.

At least you will get one mod better than you will have woods which will cost you 16 golds for savage it to learn that you are losing in this way instead of earning something.

You are right on your point of view about gold sink, and my point of view is a lot of people will become lazy and buy golds from Ebay instead, and btw if the crafter is available the sweat shop with BOTs will become more popular which is not Anet's goal. At least with what we are now Anet can be able to control the amount of upgrade drop which is necessary for the economy as a whole.
Anyone has his or her own view over this issue, this is just my two cents.

signed an excellent idea, but only let it work on customized weapons that way you can aquire a perfect weapon from collectors, the only reason then to farm/grind is for looks 15k/fow/rare skins. Also if you make it cost a couple of plat in materials+gold cost per mod it would be an excellent gold sink as well.
Edit you have to make it so that you cannot salvage the mods. Nor can people scam others by selling the perfect weapon since it has to customized.

agreed, there should be a (not salvagable) warning in the weapon description
Additionally to prevent people from upgrading other peoples customised weapons it should only be possible for a character to upgrade his own customised weapons.
