How about an Amazing Race type game?
Two parties are formed in Lion's Arch. They each start the race at the same time (think the mission countdown timer) in their own instance. The enemies are exactly the same in each. They race to Bergen Hot Springs. There are only three rules: every party member must be alive upon arrival to Bergen, all party members must be within 100 feet from one another and the party must slay at least 24 monsters along the way.
The rules will enforce teamwork and hopefully keep out the running-only builds. It would also get people to think strategically: is it faster to slay this big group of five Tengu and then run around these other two groups of three or the other way around?
The first team to comply with the rules and reach Bergen wins. They could win XP, a skill point, gold, weapon upgrades, whatever.

Thank you for posting an idea that is actually Guild Wars related. I salute you, and the idea sounds like it'd be a lot of fun.

My favorite mini-game within a game has got to be Whack-A-Rat from Sam and Max Hit the Road (OsG man, shaddup) The poor bruised, battered, disoriented rat who... well, you had to see it.
So: GW Carnival Games. Like, remember in pre-sear when you ran into that gypsy caravan in Green Hills? Make it like that but with carnie games. Charr dunk tank. Ring toss at swords stuck in the ground (but would be worthless and low stat if you won) Make it cost gold to play but make the "prizes" useless... salvageable "collector" items that no one takes, much like real carnie loot.

A.net won't consider these, but I like coming up with ideas :P
Boss Battles - Fight in a random party of 4, against the evil mastermind of Tyria, from Bonfaaz Burntfur, to the Lich Lord. Make it to the end, and win a nice random prize from gold, platinum, to rare weapons (Wee.)
Pet Fights - Battle other player pets in an arena, and earn special faction, to unlock new Beast Mastery spells to use in PPvP, and regular missions.
(Use target command to attack enemy foe)

tavern games ^^
anyone rember the game where they ties a viking barmaid to a wall by her plats and you had to carefully move a pointer over each one and throw your axe to cut it from the wall, only as you got further into the game, you had been drinking more and more mead, so your pointer dodges all over hte place to show how drunk your guy was....?
well, juat tie a GW barmaid to the wall and do that with ether hand axes or daggers ^^
the drinking game of rather than see who can stand up the longest with the booze, see who can stand at all^^ gulp too many beers/meads/Maguma Brew down too fast and whammo! you hit the floor, in 1st person...great grainy floorbords rise up to your screen and then it goes black
i prefer not to have the normal gambling games, i mean, if you wanna play poker, go to a poker site lol..
for single players, solitare on cards is good....make the two red suits be reprisented by Dwayna and Lyssa, the two black suits are Grenth and Balthazar. they would be the Ace cards, then numbers 2 thru 10 are monsters that use a skill belonging to that god ect....8 of minotaurs for balthazar....5 of beetle for Grenth ect....
include games like snap and go fish type, not normally accosiated with gambling, so is a *skill of playing* rather than gamble to get items or tokens or even status..your name up on the tavern board as the top player of the moth in the server
then theres the traditional games...bar skittles....q and a....punch me-puch you, but that is only available on a firday/satday night ^^ and you have to have drunk at least 10 pints of whatever to get in^^

I'm thinking like in the hog quests, you actually have to move the hog yourself :P

i think it would be pretty sweet if they add on lil mini games...it would give ppl more to do after finishing the game other than farming, pvp, and repeating missions...i can see them getting pretty popular...i hope anet considers this

I suggest the card, gambling, ext type games should be made into a tavern found in each major city.Like Ascalon City has Ascalon Tavern,Lion's Arch has the Lion's Tavern andso on for each city.

Shooting an apple ontop of your partners head. There would be a little thing that moves back and forth like:
l ll () l
l ll () l
l ll () l
With ll being the bar moving back and forth and () being the middle thing. You would hit the middle by shooting a 1/4 second "distracting shot" that would deal about 40 damage. The apple or pear or different items would have different amounts of HP, while your buddy would have a set amount of 480, obviously try to kill the fruit before you insta gib your buddy (BOOM HEADSHOT!). Pears may have the bar moving slower while grapes make it look like a blur. I thought of this because I need interupt practice while using distracting shot and ripsotle against attack skills =p
