Every six months
I just thought of something:
A-Net palns to release a new campaine every six months, sounds good...until you get to campain 5 or 6. How is a newbie just from campain 6 to play the others and catch up before 7 comes out. Why would they unless there is a valid reason to, like the two 15 point attribute quests are in each campain and can be acheived by a linked player. If they are why would they play the lower areas, or would they, run to SC, ascend, do a secondary, kill the beast and boom never look back.
Also, will they have enough time to make new holidays, "HA HA, my WoW had a holiday, poor GW guy, no holiday. Why don't you join me in WoW"
I'm a new person, my freind who just got me into GW has some cool Phrophecies skills, I buy Prophecies, but it is a ghost town, I feel I just wasted my $50. Do I buy any other campains, probably not.
As it stands now, my 3 characters haven't done everything yet, will I have to have one do sorrows furnace, one do the FoW and the UW and the third do Catha, and have a fourth, probably an assassin stay in Catha, because I don't have enough time to play them all in campain 3. This would totally suck and may turn me off to campain 3 and above! "Why should I buy 5? I haven't even finished all of 4 yet!!"
This could be a game killer.

6 month intervals is plenty of time to complete the game content. If you stick to their schedule you'll easily complete the chapters with out the need of feeling rushed. If you come in late, just skip the chapters before that, and buy them when you have a lot of free time.

in case you missed it it was one every 6 month after chapter 2.
they wanted a full year on each chapter so they could be polished and not rushed.
chapter 3 was started late oct/early nov 6 months after release and chapter 2 was started on release of the game .
chapter 3 will be out about november this year with a full years work on it.

They said it would be about a year for the first "expansion" and then after that one about 6 months for each one after that.
Anyways, Gaile said they are setting up a team just to do special in game events. This team would be seperate from the development team, so it won't hurt their schedule for the expansions. In fact, from that statement, I would take it that GW will start having more holidays than WoW could even dream of.
Your concerns about buying Campaign 1 around Campaign 5 or 6 is kind of silly. First of all, why are you paying $50 for a game that would be 2-3 years old by then? Secondly, if you're only buying it for the skills, then don't worry about the missions. Just keep playing on in whatever campaign you have, PvPing every once in a while, and you'll be unlocking those skills in no time.
I don't really feel any need to complete the game more than once. I know what happens, I don't need to waste that many hours again.
Maybe I can make a business of offering services in previous campaigns to help people that just want to rush through areas to get certain skills or armor...

Good point. If thats the case I hope by campain 3 something is done with Old Ascalon, the place is a dump! Then there is the new Ascalon Settlement, it is starting to look ok, but still.....

Fred_Kiwi makes a valid point. By the time GW 6 comes out, Phrophecies could be sold for $15 in the Wal-Mart bargain bin.

it has been close to a year now on chapter 1 and how much price drop have you seen?
they will not drop much for the simple fact that each new bargain account will add to their expences.
you could probably get 5 million more players in a week by selling accounts for 5 dollars each with no monthly fee
your costs shoot up and no more money is coming in to pay for them.
a monthly pay game is worth luring people in with a low price because the monthly charge gets you profit plus expences paid.
no fee equals added expences with no income to pay them.
no bargain bin on this game for any chapter
cheapest i have seen is 39.99 plus tax s/h

I think the price drop will depend on where you are buying from.
My Best Buy still has GW copies for $50. But then I go across the street, and I can get GW from EBgames for $40. And these are from gaming/computer stores.
Typically, games like this, if they aren't selling anymore in stores like Wal-Mart, they will continue to lower the price until all or most copies are sold.
I think when Factions releases and for a few months after, we'll see some of the old GW copies go down in price. More people will be buying the new version of the game than the old. I still think that there will be people who buy the first campaign, but the number buying the second will be significantly higher.

Or just keep enhancing the other two games instead of releasing alot of campaigns, maybe every year or something release a new champaign.
I dont think there would be many people to team up to do missions in prophecies then ^^
