Challenging PvE Maps.
Over the past few months I've been playing Guild Wars, less and less of mmy valuable time is being devoted to PvE. This is partly because I enjoy playing against real, unpredictable people, but also because the PvE portion of the game is so untaxing.
If you went into a GvG match with five people, would you expect to win? Could you solo an entire team? If the opposing party sent forward a stance tank, would you attack and continue to attack it, even when you're not dealing any damage?
What I want to see in Factions are some genuinely challenging areas, with mobs containing several classes that utilise secondary professions and pack full, coherent skillbars. I want to see them use intelligent tactics that real people would -kiting, energy management, coordinated spikes, ward camping or target switching, to name but a few. I want it to be so hard that you'll need to bring a balanced team of competent players if you want to succeed. Many people bemoan the fact that Mesmers are so unpopular outside of PvP, but this is the case simply because they're not needed in the current PvE environment. Add in a few AI E-Surgers and protection monks, and soon you'll need shutdown or interrupt mesmers to swing the balance in your favour.
Of course, for areas so hard as these hypothetical ones, the drops should be great- I propose packing them with new, rare skinned items that show you're a truly skilled PvE player, like rank emotes highlight a competent PvP'er. I don't believe you deserve perfect items for standing about with a book in your hands, or spamming one skill over and over ad nauseum.
So, who's with me?

I swear to God, if there is a Factions PvE area with a "book" or "gear", I'll never PvE again.

Factions sounds like it may be for you then - though there isn'y much for PvE, it does have lots of "competition" in it (PvP mini games and indirect PvP content: meaning you play against other players for score/points/resources). You might like it. The competition might add that difficulty yu are looking for.
Honestly, I thought the thread here was about new PvE missions or something that I hadn't heard about. Had me all pumped up for some new missions. hehe

I'm with you too. For some areas at least. Some people like predictable AI and there are some builds that are fun to play but require the enemy to behave a certain way.
Also, you mustn't make the AI too good because, after all, a lot of those enemies are level 28 and have monster abilities.
Personally I think the new Tombs is fairly challenging and intense... but then along came barrage/pet groups and now it's becoming tame. Mind you, even a B/P group will fail some of the time. Still I wish that sort of thing just wouldn't happen.

I think all items that drop in this prupoused "Super PvE" Should be Set Up like this.
If it is a Monk Item, the primary monks in the group names go into a bucket of names. The winner gets the item. The item that dropped is CUSTOMIZED for Said person already. Same thing with all classes. If the item is a classless Item (Like Ectos, and salvages, and collector items) it wouldnt be customized.

I'm sure Factions will cover it, but they should make huge PvP maps with forts, catapults, balista, other misc weaponry. things to make the scenery more interesting and interactive
