New Idea to achieve unique (green) weapon
Recently I notice places like SF and Tombs have been overfarmed and now green weapons have lost its value as unique weapons in the game. Id like to propose new idea how to achieve unique weapons (hopefully in upcoming expansion) without being exploited by mindless massive farming.
- Make a place like UW or FoW where you will be charged with some gold. Alternatively it can be placed between Kurzick and Luxon, so it involves conquering this place through Alliance Battles. This is to limit the number of people entering this place.
- When you enter the place, it may contain all possible high level mobs (lvl 22 – 28) that exist in Factions game but only some types of mobs are randomly selected at a time. Also they spawn randomly. This is to prevent (or at least to make harder) possible creation of common builds to conquer this place. So it encourages people to use different/balance builds in team.
- When the destination is reached, you will be transferred to new area and allowed to reskill. At this stage you will be challenged individually against a boss. The boss can be like dopple ganger where he copies your profession and skills. But this image boss has the same access to all skills that your character unlocked and able to create his own build. He also has the same runes in his armor. So it’s possible for him to have 55 build as well. Alternatively the boss can be fixed boss that can’t change but must be provided some enhancement removal skills to prevent abuse of 55 solo build. In case you are failed, you are given up to 3 attempts to fight this boss and allowed to reskill in each attempt.
Now that you have been challenged as team and individual, you are granted weapon of your choice. This weapon is described below:
- It has distinctive colour in the description (eg, black, red, dark blue, etc)
- You are only allowed to have weapon based on your primary and/or secondary
- You are allowed to choose a skin from range of skins, these skins are exclusive
- You can have either a set (1 handed weapon and offhand) or two handed weapon
- You are able to choose mods and upgrades for your weapon. You are given fixed number of points to choose any mods and upgrades you desire. Since some mods and upgrades are better (or more popular) than others, they have different number of points.
- This weapon is automatically customized to your character
- You are only allowed have a weapon (a set or 2 handed) at a time in 1 character. So you cant get second weapon by entering this place again. However you can give up your weapon and take the challenge to get new weapon
- This weapon has lifetime so it will disappear in fixed time. In case somehow people got it stolen (drop or destroy the weapon is considered as giving it up). So the challenge can be taken again to get new weapon.
- The name of the weapon is named after your name, just like green weapons are named after the boss. For example an assassin character named Kakashi Windslasher, it can be Kakashi’s daggers (the last part can be depending on the skin you choose) or The Windslasher.
- OPTIONAL: an addition of quest to change name may be added in case people realize they have stupid names or don’t like the original name as it affects the name of weapon. But it can only be done once.
Yes it is hard and very challenging, so it is limited to only some high skilled players and gives huge accomplishment to pve players. So what do you think?

No-one seems to realise that green items weren't brought into the game to be "rare", they were brought in to allow existing PvE characters to be able to transfer easily over to PvP and have the same advantage as PvP characters.

If people want to play pvp, they can simply reserve 1 slot for for pvp. If they already spend all slots to pve and want to be equal in terms of weapon like you said, then this is the answer. The current greens wont let you to choose mods and upgrades where pvp players can. And the challenge can be considered as a "test" that indicates you may possess the skill to play pvp.
On the other hand, I also can say you are wrong if greens meant for pve players to play pvp. If so, Anet shouldnt have nerfed the green dropping, it should have kept dropping easily so all pve players can play pvp without worrying about the weapon.
