Katana and sheath
Hey i was thinking that it would be really nice to see the katana get its counter part the iron sheath i think it would give the truest "samuari" look we could get in the world of guildwars this wepon set katana as sword and sheath as shields with a set of Legionnaire armor hopefully the 15k set will have a nice devil samuari look to it.
well tell me what you think

Well, despite the lack of punctuation in the OP's post, I think it's a novel idea. They did have paper fans, which could add a little something to that classic look. I think it would be neat to have an off-hand similar to Grim Cestas - as in something that looks like a gauntlet. More things like that to enhance the look of armor instead of having to rely on an off-hand item look.
A sheath might end up being a little to cliche', but it could be done right.
BTW: Why can't we be ninjas and samurai? As the OP said, Factions is asian-themed, ninja and samurai are asian-themed, seems like a case of Peanut-Butter and Jelly to me. Besides, the Assassin looks pretty ninja-esque to me, give Warriors a chance to be all samurai.

I may not be a ninja in the game, but I am a ninja.
But still...Make a samurai armor...not the upgrade of some other armor...
I would rather have a spacesuit. (not realistically)

Totally agree...
I think adding the ability to sheath your wep either on your side or back (like WoW) or better yet, HAVE a sheath already VISIBLE whether or not you're holding your wep will make a GREAT addition to Guildwars factions... Though some people do not like to associate GW's warrior and assassin class as being able to be "samurai and ninja" respectively, I'm sure there is an equal or even GREATER number of people who do. This speculation is backed by the MULTITUDES of assassin and warrior (mainly assassin) characters I saw during the FPE event that had names ranging from ones remotely referencing themeselves with the theme, to full ninja/samurai-esque names like Sasuke, Hanzo, Kakashi, Musashi, etc...
I'd also like to propose Anet to also offer Warriors with a "Samurai-esque" armor, similar to what we see on Canthan Guards and some Canthan Generals, in addition to the current armor available... In reference to Assassins, I'd like to see a more "ninja-esque" armor (i/e full hooded masks, baggy ninja pajamas, fish-net undergarments, etc...) added as a different alternative to the Bondage convention type armor they currently have....
And to counter KvanCetre's reply:
You're right. We are not samurai or ninja. But for the love of God nethier are we Knights or into S&M (well maybe some of us are ;p)...

You're right, thus why they are not in the game either.
And of course, anyone who used their brain would know I was referring to in-game, not real life.
As for the rest of your post... your name is SHINOBI(Originality ftw) and you have a picture of a ninja in your avatar. I haven't read it yet, but I bet you stated that you believe the game would somehow be be enhanced by including samurai and ninja clothing and incorporating other Japanese culture(BECAUSE ALL WE CARE ABOUT IN ASIA IS JAPAN!) items that are the wetdreams of 15 year old anime fanboys.
I don't like to be a jerk, but I'm so sick and tired of these types of debates.
ALL NINJAS ARE NOT ASSASSINS
ALL ASSASSINS ARE NOT NINJAS
JAPAN IS NOT THE ONLY ASIAN COUNTRY
"But K'van, its asiaaaaan themed, we should have the armor of great samurais and ninjas ^_^_^_^"
So why are you leaving out the great fighters of all asian nations? Because you're looking to be a cookie-cutter japanese style fanboy with no regard for game originality.
They made an assassin, not a ninja. Deal with it. If you want to be a ninja go play another game. Theres PLENTY of them out there already.

No, the assassin looks like... hmm, an assassin.
Looks nothing like
except they cover their faces.
What about the rest of the classes, why should they be left out?
Why shouldn't the warrior get a chance to dress like a Chinese or Korean warrior? Why is the only time anything is mentioned when something is asian themed it has to be Ninja and Samurai?
OMG I WANT TO BE LU BU LIKE IN DYNASTY WARRIORS ^_^

I'm not fond of the katana being in the game in the first place. A katana requires a much different style of use than any sword our warriors normally use. Trust me, Stefan would be little use with a Katana.

Warriors have an armor called "KNIGHT'S ARMOR and PLATEMAIL ARMOR" that clearly screams out KNIGHT. Yet you say they are not in the game. I'm NOT asking Anet to change the assassins name to NINJA nor am I saying that Warriors should be called SAMRUAI.
For your information, Samurai and ninja are cookie cutter themes for a reason. They appeal to alot of people and in my opinion they are on the same level as knights in terms of popularity.
It's pretty stereotypical of you to assume that I am a 15 yr old anime fanboy and that I want Cantha to STRICTLY be JAPANESE. As you may have not read on my post, I am asking Anet to ADD those themes on the characters, not put them "IN PLACE" of the current themes used. I am not against adding other themed armor as well, be it chinese, thai, etc... Though they are not as POPULAR as the cookie cutter Samurai, ninja, knight, gladiator, etc, Anet is more than welcome to add other culturally diverse themes to the Warrior and Assassin classes along with Samurai and Ninja. Nowhere in my post did I say that they should EXCLUSIVELY be Samurai/Ninja. I suggest to try reading my posts completely first before jumping in on the Japanese culture hating bandwagon and sound like a jerk in front of the whole GW guru crowd.
Game originality? Assassins and Warriors are pretty much in EVERY SINGLE ONLINE RPG MADE. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE... Where's the originality in that? IMO their originality is based more on their gameplay, not their armor. Tell me 1 MMORPG BESIDES FFXI where one can play as a NINJA class. I'll go play that.
Yes my SN IS "S H I N O B I" and it is not original because it is a word frequently used by ninja themed shows and games which I find entertaining. I don't feel I need to comprimise what I like for the sake of being "original". Do you?

I don't hate the Japanese Culture - I hate the fanboys who try to put the Japanese culture into everything and anything simply because "ZOMG ITS JAPANESE"
I never said that I assumed you wanted Japanese culture to replace everything in Guild Wars, I said that I'm tired of people assuming "Asian" meant "Japanese".
As for originality, personally, how can you call me stereotypical(wrong word in the first place) for assuming you were the stereotypical 15 year old fanboy when you use a name like Shinobi? Typed in all caps... spaced out.

you are STEREOTYPING me as a 15 yr old fan boy based on my comment of adding a popular class like Samurai or Ninja to the game as well as having an "unoriginal" Screen name. I believe I used the word in the correct context.

This comment you made seemed directed towards me, am I correct? Those words that you typed in CAPS as an effort to sound sarcastic seems to mean that you are assuming (even BETTING) I am excluding other cultures aside simply because I made a comment to add a popular class that alot of people find appealing. Did you all of a sudden change your mind?
I guess its safe for me to assume that you are a 12 yr old troll who flames everyone that dissagrees with your opinions because you ignored to read the rest of the post I made based on my screen name which has no bearing my maturity level.
BTW - just because your are "tired" of fanboys assuming Asian means "Japanese" doesn't justify your reckless assumptions of me being one of the fanboys you love to hate... (or secretly love, wutever floats your boat)... Though it might be safe to act like this on the internet (since as we all know too well, when posting on the internet, the first things that comes flying out the door are intelligence and maturity...), you might want to be wary of how you act based on your assumptions when it comes to real life. You might hurt yourself.
With that said, I would like to stay on topic regarding GW including sheaths as I feel it is a great idea to be implemented, along with the suggestions I made on one of my posts further up on the thread.

Sorry. Try going through your "Hooked on Phonics" tapes one more time, maybe you'll get it right.
"stereotyping - An oversimplified perception or conception especially of persons, social groups, etc. "
Stereotyping used in a sentence: "Stereotyping is a risky, offensive, and non-productive exercise. Ethnic jokes may be humorous, but are built on a foundation of misinformation and bias."
You are labeling me as a stereotype. In short, you are STEREOTYPING me.

YES MY NINJA OVERLORD YOU HAVE DEFEATED ME!
...you know, by disagreeing. And me realizing that ninja fanboys will be ninja fanboys and arguing with them is pointless because they're blinded by love of those men in black.
I always love that online "OMG I WON BECAUSE YOU STOPPED FIGHTING" mantra. Especially when, even though there was no victory, they get on a high horse and taunt you. Its kinda like losing in random and still calling the other team a noob - they have no idea how to respond because its just so silly.
GG
BACK ON TOPIC - the idea is dumb.

Hehehe, sarcastic and stereotypical till the end huh? Again... Sucks to be you.
GG
Getting back on topic: I think maybe giving the characters a different animation style when wielding weps such as Katana and the like would also be a nice addition, along with the use of sheaths.... I doubt Anet would implement this at such a late stage though....
BTW - that "sheath as a focus" off hand item suggestion is a great idea. I'll /sign for that...
