Familiars (pets for other proffessions)
I have recently seen a thread considering pets for all proffesions, but this would be unfair to the ranger, seeing that they had the "origional" pets
I have a suggestion that may be a good middle ground: Familiars
Familiars are small creatures that sit on your shoulder/follow closely behind/or simply hang around you
They wouldn't be fighting type creatures, but things that would give subtle bonuses to the owner, ie: +health, +mana, +armor, etc
any thoughts on this?

In my view the concept of how a familiar would be is interesting. But, I see it better as a component of a new profession rather than as adition for any character.
For example, I think that, familiars might fit very well as a kind of summoned creatures.
Summoner

A summoner might summon different creatures:
djins (elemental spirits, necrotic spirits, illusory spirits)
familiars (protective spirits, healing spirits)
Nevertheless, if the main idea is that any character could have a small kind of pet, then, I think that better these pets do not have any effect on the game, but, just appearance.
And if they were too much problem for the Guild Wars program's machine they would be visible in towns only.

Familiars is a great idea. with subtle bonuses, maybe skills that use them just to make them seem usefull (but no charm familiar ability)
dont think everybody should get one though, usually familiars go to spell casters
necros already have dead, so maybe just ele's and me's
monks should get a gaurdian spirit or something
warriors.. well fresh out of ideas
the familiar could be 4 different skills for each class
each one modifying a certain ability
or have more, like ones that add shortens bleeding etc(mod effects)
---all at the sacrafice of one of your eight skill slots---

a summoner would be a nice addition to this game.
maybe in the third install they can add a "Summoner" and something else.
maybe a "thief" or "druid" or "bard" etc

Why does everything have to give a bonus?
I would love to have the cutest little kitten ever that follows me around and feasts on the flesh of my fallen foes.

they really need to introduce the rabbit from monty-python...then all it does is consume corpeses and grow larger, more bloodthirsty.
