Remove All R6 And Below
it has recently come to my attention that in the new halls people will not join or let u in to a party unless u have R3 or hire. I personally just became interested in holding halls. Kinda ran outa things to do lol and im sick of leaving my ability to go uw and fow in the hands of other people. i would like if they removed all R6 and below or R3 and below so that none of the high R9 and R12 would quit holing halls or playing the game at all.
I want something done about this as well as the fact that people are exploiting this opportunity's to get money outa ppl just so they can go in to halls in a decent group.
if they don't remove the ranks or give us a option to report people who as for rank they should at least find out who the people that farm rank for other people are and get them baned.

At best, that would be a temporary 'solution', as people's ranks will climb up, and so will the 'standards'. If there comes a rank 15-20+, then people will just up the rank you have to be to get into their teams. And whether or not that's even a solution is entirely questionable.

The same way monks for hire are forcing people to pay them money to get into groups? Nobody's forcing anyone to do it, key word being forcing. As long as there're shortcuts, there're people that will seek them, and there will be people who make a business out of it. It's simply the way things are.

I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind it. Rank is worthless in that it does nothing for you inherently. Only other people's actions give it any meaning. Basically, you're sending out a mixed message by addressing rank.
You're saying-
1) Rank is meaningless, so it shouldn't matter.
2) The only decent teams are ranked ones, and everyone should be able to get into them.
You're saying that you don't like being discriminated against, but then you're also discriminating against your fellow rankless people, by saying they're not decent. How can you hope to fight such discrimination if you practice it yourself?

Seriously, people should drop the idea that rank = skill. The only thing rank represents, is time spend in tombs. And as a consequence, more familiar with the maps of tombs/heroe's ascent.
As proof that rank =/= skill, something that was posted on a forum:
Quote:
I was thinking along the lines of 16 expertise and of course the max in healing prayers(R/Mo). THe low energy cost of spells would allow me to spam them would they not. Not many people would expect a healing ranger either. I have tested this in PVP and went on a 22 win streak before. Im R7 so that might have something to do wiht it but i suggest that some of you try a healing ranger.(not giving away my uber build) : P
|
The suggestions you posted are simply not an answer, as MA allready said. Play with guild or build a circle of friends, it's the best way.

yes they should
no im not saying rank is mening less
im saying its un fair to say u cant join a team becaulse of ur rank it is rank discrimination
and if they are making a profit from it they should stop that to like the people they are trying to prevnt running loranars when they added more enamies
im saying most people dont go above rank 9 unless they are verry skiled and may not like it to mutch if ur remove there rank
by a decent group i mean a group that rutenly holds halls or even gets there and comes to the last round before losing or atleast th second to last round.

This makes no sense. I want the low ranked players out so the high ranked players can't hold halls?

Okay, then I'm going to report every power-leveler and person who got a power-level in PvE.

Here's an idea, instead of removing rank...
Strip all fame/rank from anyone who got that rank from IWAY. So say someone got 2465 fame from winning with IWAY, that much should be removed.
IWAY takes no skill, and since it's being "changed" these IWAY noobs will be left with nothing. There will be tons of r9+ people who don't know crap about the game or how to play it due to hiding behind an overpowered build that takes no skill to run.
There's going to be r3 people who have a much greater understanding and skill level than that of r9+ people.
Ironically, the creator of this thread's profession is W/R...Hmm, interesting.

I get so tired of these delete the rank system threads. I started off with no fame and no way of getting "awsome" groups and did in fact "pug". I dealt with the rank elitist crap and put together some solid teams that with alittle practice could take them on and now because of it I have a decent r5 under my belt hoping to hit r6 one of these days. Just because you cant log into HA and have some aura of greatness that makes people want you in their groups doesnt mean you should go make a thread on how so and so doesnt like the fact you dont have a shiny bambi protruding from your chest meaning that everyone else who worked for rank should have it wiped, because you dont get what you want in the first 30 seconds your there. If you really want a rank or chance at it you will tough it out and earn it regardless of the r3+ groups. Imo some of the best groups Ive ever been in were people who were gvging prior to HA and decided to run thier gvg build there and none of them have rank. Some have no fame at all.

STFU all of you. stop bitching cuz everyone came from the same fame/rank. I started with nothing, got kicked from many groups, never spirit spammed, never iwayed. and look at me. noobs go tombs and make ur own groups if you cant. peace niggas

One possible way of dealing with it could be to allow fame to be gained, probably at a slower rate in other arenas or GvG... up to a point. Say, R3.
That way, the Hall of Heroes is still special because that's the only place you can get higher rank, but at least someone new to the HoH but who has had experience in other forms of PvP can demonstrate that they aren't a complete neophyte.

Personally, and according to the smartest people in guild wars, rank is the most pointless thing in the world. People who are rank 12 got 90% of their fame from spirit spamming. People who are rank 9 got theirs from spirit spamming, and a little skill. The best players I know are between ranks 3 and 8.
Now that the game is "balanced," A-net should wipe rank from all players and restart so every player is fairly ranked. All of the "best" players in GW have absolutely no skills in pvp, and got nearly all of their fame by exploits and cheating. I wouldn't mind losing my rank 6 in order for every player to be judged on an equal, fair system. When my guild and I make PUGs, we reject rank 9s and above, because our experience is that those players are all idiots who don't know how to do anything except lay spirits. I take unranked players over rank 9s, and usually win with them.
As for your very bad suggestion, no. Do not reset rank unless you reset ALL rank. Rank is already meaningless and elitist as it is, there's no need to delete all the people who werent able to spirit spam like you. The sad part of this is, my air spike groups probably beat you back in the day, when you sucked too much to lay some simple spirits.

Rank is deffinatly not working as it should... It should be bragging rights not the only way to get into groups... mabey make /rank only usable in non pvp areas... i'm not against rank itself but its causing to much descrimination and bitterness

I got ~3000 fame and would happily see fame get reset.
Personally a fame reset every 3-6 months would be great, for GW as only active HA ppl will be able to get it and using the latest builds therefore reflecting a truer picture of skill.
And with them applying skill balances more often now it would be even better

People don't hate IWAY because it's overused.
People hate IWAY because it takes no skill to run, even the newbiest of players can make it to hoh due to it being so overpowered.

I see this turning into another IWAY rant thread... and eventually closed.
Rank doesn't reflect skill - BUT, with that said - _most_ of the time I would say there is a better chance that a rank 6 player is going to be better than an unranked.
But seriously, I've been in groups where so-called rank 8 players have laughed when I've pulled out a sword and a scroll as a monk :\. I promprtly left the group

Omg! Thats pretty amazing for a r7 (assuming it was a serious comment.) But rank is still useful. Normally when you talk to randomers before entering you can tell if they have never played the build before. For example, 'experienced' bonders who dont use/understand the point of balthazars spirit, and have to be regularly reminded to start bonding.

lololol. Yeah leave all the high ranks alone, but discriminate against those who are just starting win halls...

That would just make pvp even more of a grindfest, because unlike GvG where you lose points for losing, in HA you can only gain fame (not that i believe this to be a bad thing)
Your suggestion would just reward those who never leave their computers, not the 'good' players.

:S I doubt they would do that. It would take away much of the alleged point of the rank system in the first place.

Another reason why wiping all ranks below 6 and none above is a bad idea.

Yah. IWAY is played more successfully by noobs than other builds, but there are also good players who play it; for example i know a group of people who are all at least r6+ who play only IWAY but they play it *extremely* well. To me it is suprising that they can only this build, and not get bored, but i guess you have to respect that people have a right to run whatever build they like and you shouldn't abuse them for it. I mean when does power run anything but spike? and yes he doesnt get the same abuse dished out to MATH etc on these forums. (Ive found some of the (ex)MATH people to be quite rude themselves in-game, but thats a totally separate issue)

I really like this idea, because it means people dont have to IWAY to start pvp because, lets face it, unranked balance groups waste everyone's time. Anet, make it so! ^^
