Yeah, the speed was MY idea, if speed shouldn't go in samurai, then it should go in berserker or something. Yeah.... berserker, uses gaunlets to punch the crap out of enemys. Skills like Brute strike: Fist attack: your attack has a ___% to strike double damage. this attack fails ____% of the time.

I want my Utsusemi-ichi.
I must say I love the idea if the samurai. Just because the name is cookie cutter, doesn't mean the character has to be.

The samurai idea is years old. People wanted one (it wasn't called a samurai, looked the same and used Oriental weapons though) in Diablo2.
It could be cool, but its hard to fit into GW. It would be a mix between a Assassin and a Warrior, something you can already do. It is different from both of them, but a W/A or a A/W could come VERY close to what this is.

While I don’t like the Samurai class in GW that much, but I just can not resist the challenge, so made a brief concept class about it.
Samurai / Bushi
Energy: Depend on Armor. Go from 20 to 45 range.
Armor: Unlike other class, will actually have two type of armor. A Steel plated armor that has high AL, but give no energy, or a Robe like Kimono, that has really low armor but give energy.
Weapons: Katana will be the primary weapon. Two kind, the Dai-Katana (or whatever it is call, the bigger and longer one), which will have attack speed of hammer, 2-hand, but have greater damage (like of 20-42 range), and Katana (the regular kind), 2-hand, but a better accuracy and damamge (about 28-32)
Premise: Samurai is a damage dealer. If Assassin is more like Necro on dealing conditions, Samurai is more like an Elementalist of melee. Great damage, but slow to cast. Also there are higher risk that come with the greater damage. Also can be a tanker or helper built.
Attributes:
Self Defense: (Primary) For every rank in this attribute, you gain 1% chance of Dodge/Evade/or Block hits from melee or arrow. Also effect skill of this attribute.
Way of Katana: Skills that allow you to better us of Katana.
Way of Precision: Skills that allow you to aim at target spot and apply conditions. (work well with other concept skills of stealing/breaking armors)
Way of Serving: Skills that allow you to better aid your ally in battlefield.
Skills:
Self Defense:
Similar to Warrior’s tactics. Have Stances and other defensive related skill that allow you to tank and survive better.
Way of Katana:
Several different lines of skills in this attribute.
A Battoujitsu (art of drawing the sword) line, which will have its damage depended on time (like Rituralist’s holding ash). Where you will sheath your sword (can’t not attack, move or cast skill in this duration), and choose to slash at your desirable time.
Cut of Headless Demon
10e | 1c | 30r : Sheath your sword for 1 to 8 seconds. When you Slash, if hit, will deal X extra damage, and target will be Blind and Gag, and break its Helm for 50% for the next 1…16 seconds (the X and duration of condition will be depend on how long you sheath your sword.)
Cut of Flying Crane
10e | 1c | 30r : Sheath your sword for 1 to 8 seconds. When you Slash, if hit, will deal ((1…5) X seconds you sheath) extra damage. This is a range attack that can go through multiple enemies.
An another kind of Katana Skill require Precisions. The skill of this type will be default have a 33% chance of missing or fail to use (shown in a darker color). When you fight, for every strike, there will be a chance (randomly, maybe about 20% per strike) where that precision skill will be “light up” (which last for 2 seconds, before going dark again). When use at this time, it will have a 100% chance of being use.
Slash of Falling Sun
10e | 3c | 30r : Attack for 12…50 extra damage. A Precision skill.
Slash of Spitting Rock
10e | 3c | 30r : Attack for 5…24 extra damage and Break target’s body armor (lowers its AL) by 50%. A Precision skill.
Way of Precision
Skills that boost the Precisions to help the Precision skills, or target specific body parts of target.
Stalker’s Eyes
10e | 2c | 30r : For the next T seconds, all your Precisions skills (at its darken stage) will only fail at 66% time.
Seeking Weakness
10e | 2c | 30r : For the next T seconds, you increase the change of getting your precision skill “light up” is up by 25%.
Aim Eyes
5e | 2c | 30r : You attack target’s head. 50% chance of causing Blind.
Aim Leg
5e | 2c | 30r : You attack target’s leg. 50% of causing Cripple.
Way of Serving
(since Samurai have a better direct translation as “One who Serve”)
Skills that would help out your teammates, especially dealing with DP and Moral.
Help out of Pit:
5e | 2c | 30r : You take 15% DP from target ally, but add 15% DP to your self.
Die for the War:
5e | 2c | 30r : You take 15% DP, and your team gain 5% of Moral Boost
Preparing for Death:
5e | 2c | 30r : In the next T seconds, if you take DP (self induce or dealth), you take 3…8% less.
Balance:
While Katana skill can do great damage to a single target, it does tend to be long and risky to cast. Precision skills are very chance base, and Battoujitsu can be easily dodge (by running away in time). Also energy could be a problem from them, if they take the Armor. Also like Warrior and Assassin, They are weak against DoPs and conditions. (but they can take a bit better elemental damages with their Armor) I am still unsure if I like the Primary, but it will do for now.

I still don't like it because its a Samurai, change it to almost anything else and I will like it... The only thing that could be worse is someone asking for a "Rex kwon do" or " Chuck Norris" build.

I am opposed to any build named after a name from another language aside from English. This isn't racism, merely by the fact (in this example) that JAPANESE doesn't exist in our english translated version of Tyria, and therefore the word we take from whatever culture the 'new warrior' belongs would NOT be 'Samurai'! It would be something else!
Samurai is not an english word, and therefore you cannot name a profession after it.
Name it something else, and I'll be happy.
The same goes for 'katana' and 'ninja'.
Aside from that obvious pet peeve, I find your profession idea appealing. Though, I would still prefer if warriors were just given a ton of new skills that would be more complicated to use but more rewarding when used properly instead of a whole other warrior profession being made.
New armour for them too, I like the kimono idea. We don't need new professions, per se, just the ability to take our current ones further.

Haha. Chuck Norris. He only needs one skill. Round-House kick. And it nukes everyone in the aggro bubble.

Following the humorous track of this, he would also need a skill that makes him impervious to the mighty nerf-stick.

Why not just play a warrior and make them look like a samurai? The class is already used to simulate any number of historical or fantasy archetypes of the melee fighter.
Just to be a historical pedant, the samurai fills a similar role in Japanese feudalism as the knight did in European feudalism. Yet, there is no need for a 'knight' class in the more European appearing Tyria. Instead you can just call your character 'Sir something', buy knights armour or platemail and off you go.
By the same token, if you want to play a samurai-esque character, buy some Eastern looking armour from the Cantha campaign and any sword which looks like a katana. Job done. More importantly, make them a warrior/ranger since the samurai spent at least as much time with the bow as with the sword (probably more, so maybe a ranger/warrior).

I never said it wasn't but you asked about it so you obviously didn't read his explination or if you did then maybe YOUR post can be considered spam since you could of just replied to his explination instead of asking questions about somthing that was already answered.

I agree, I mean, who would use a sword without another, smaller sword? Single swords are so Western...
