Encouraging players to start PvP games
I'm a PvE player myself, and I hardly play PvP. Considering why I don't play PvP and what changes are needed to get me into PvP matches I clearly notice a pattern of insecurity that can be beaten step by step. Key would be some changes, starting in the Arena matches.
The beginning:
(these matches should be accessable for everyone at every time)
-1 vs 1 computer opponent (selectable) to learn the basics and learn to know the map.
-1 vs 1 friend. Select your opponent and enjoy the game without stressing about the outcome; its a friend you battle or practice against
-2 vs 2 computer opponents (like 1 vs 1)
-2 vs 2 friends (like 1 vs 1 )
.......
Up to 4 vs 4.
Continued:
-Guild vs Computer Guild
-Guild vs same Guild (members of the same guild form 2 teams and battle each other)
-Guild vs. selected other Guild
In the same way I would like other PvP matches to be build up like this. The basic idea is to give players time to practice in a friendly environment!

Yes, we added guild scrimmages, which can be initiated by any member of a guild when they are in their guild hall. This gives guilds the ability to practice one-on-one, eight-on-eight, or even one-on-eight combat if they choose. This is also a pretty good example of the sort of upgrades that affect all chapters of the game. Anyone playing Guild Wars whose guild has a guild hall will be able to take advantage of guild scrimmages regardless of whether they buy Factions.

When I decided to start playing PvP it came the novelty of the Isle of the Nameless and the Zaishen Challenge, which was a pertinent help.
The Isle of the Nameless is still usefull to try to understand skills, weapons and some manners of fight.
After this, and now, I just play in the Random Arenas. I am looking forward the day or the month ¿or the year? in which I may be able to play in Heroes's Ascent or Guild versus Guild. These styles have been probing to me elusive until now. I have not yet found a suitable manner to join a team (think I keep visiting HA to try to find out what could I do), and I have not yet find out the manner to find a suitable guild. Think I have been in two guilds, the first had just changed to PvE when I joined and the second had the Warrior's guild hall which I dislike. I have started one guild but as players did not continue I disbanded it. Just to complete the idea: The people with whom I have played more regularly were PvE players, I never though to join their guild, and they have stop playing a month ago.
Therefore I still patiently stay looking for a manner to play these elusive styles.
I hope that the kind of game styles that GW:Factions brings will easy this... but, I do not see it crystal clear. As in my view, of the guild's thing, I do not like most of the emblems as I do not like the middle ages designs I like rather either modern or vanguardist designs or prehistoric looking designs... Nevertheless, I may look for a Luxon sided Guild once GW:Factions comes. As well as the HA thing which again is rather taut, ...
I do not think that I need to be encouraged to start PvP games, I think I need material means, ingame, to join the different PvP styles.
