How about they added an option (on character creation) that gave you 10% XP from monsters and none from quests? Then you could waste as many heartbeats leveling to 20 as you want; and they might even give you a 'Master of Grind' title to go under your name.
Keep GW GW.

Since this is the newest topic I will post my opinion in here too.
I really really do hope ANet raises the level or IMO things are going to get boring. The trouble I found with Factions was that I used my older character from tyria who is level 20, but because level 20 is the maximum level there was hardly any incentive for me to do quests - I just wanted to move on and do the things I had to do to reach the end of the game and I have probably 10 or so quests that I haven't completed which are given to you in the early part of factions.
The idea of games is to achieve things and personally I would be much happier if factions added say 10 more levels and made the further on areas of the map have tougher monsters.
Oh and the whole idea of doing quests to gain skill points is quite crazy really aswell. I mean who really lacks the skill points to spend on skills you want? (unless you want to buy every skill in the game). My warrior has about 40 or so skill points, and thats after I have brought every skill that I want for my warrior from both prophecies and factions.

I'm assuming you're talking about factions, as there are no explorable islands in Prophicies except the Sanctum Cay mission(1/2way through the game), and the Fire Isles(at the effective end of PvE).
Ok, so you want to just double everything? So what would the point be? It would be the exact same game as it is now, just everything is doubled.
Of course that wouldn't work, since you have to factor in attribute points, meaning you'd need to either rebalance the attribute point allocation per level, and the effect of attribute points on every single skill. Wow, that's alot of work considering how many skills there are. But it doesn't end there, would they effectively double the effect of superior runes, and +1 helms, +1 % chance items and the amount of actual spendable points you can dump into attributes? Well, that'd be a big change, especialy since they won't change the items. Making it a balancing nightmare. In effect it would be redesigning the entire skill balance for both PvE and PvP. Considering skill balace is a huge part of the game, it would take ALOT of work, for absolutly no benefit to the intended gameplay style, or endgame.
What about weapons? Armor? If you're going to double everything else, you'd need to double those too. Effectively making ANET either change every single item in the game(which they're having enough trouble doing with just armor right now) or making everyone's high-value items totaly unusable/worthless. Wow, that might piss alot of people off, or create an absolutly undoable amount of work for ANET. Health will be higher, so weapons will need to do more damage to preserve balance(without totaly reinventing it). Effectively pissing off every single player of the game that uses a PvE charactar for anything. This isin't even saying anything about energy on items, which may need to be changed to preserve balance as well. Not to mention all pre-existing bonuses, effectively making bonuses like Fortitude and Vampiric need to be doubled. There's just no end to the item issue, and no way to fix it.
Not to mention they'd need to examine the level of every single monster in every single area of the game, and determine if it's appropriate, and if not what needs to be changed to fix it(add more, change level... etc).
So you can see why there are tremendous problems with this, they'd be better of making a new game(aka not guildwars). All this so PvErs could go grind for a few more hours, before hitting the level cap again.
Please think before you post. It always helps.

as someone who had 2 jedis in the old SWG game and 2 level 60's in WoW I do know a thing or 2 abought grinding
grinding sucks seems you have the same problem i had when i came to GW without a grind you lack purpose to play
well im 2 months into GW with 4 level 20s and im loving it no need to grind if i feel like grinding i can grind skill points and get some accomplishment i guess there but the choice ot grind or not is what is great abought GW I doubt they will change it and hope they dont I mean a day or 2 before you can start enjoying a game is alot better than 3 months of work minimum before you can "play" and enjoy the game IMO

Ok ....... my friend was telling me that on the last missonin Cantha was wicked hard. Cuzz he said there were all these lvl 35 things. Now y is it that the monsters get to have a higher lvl cap than us?? Kinda weird? o yah it presents a challenge, but wen its a 15 lvl difference thats kinda gay...... think bout it at lvl 20 u have 460 hp... so then with 15 more lvls u get 760 hp....... My friend hates how u cant complete thelast mission becuase of that.....
And
Why do u say people wouldnt be able to play the game at lvl 60, or 50 or 40?
It would be thesame! justadd more higherlvl areas. but the beginning would be the same.. and wen u ascend LET ME TELL U n00bs! WEN U ASCEND u dont autoimatically get to ur max lvl... dipshits..... u get like 55,000 Experience.
I doubt they will change the lvl but.... screw it

Shiro is only lev 31... Kuvang is lev 30 and Glint is lev 30, the Lich is lev 30 and I think there is a dragon or two in underworld that's level 30, and 3 titans are lev 30. thats it... That's the extent of it. and I can tell you that Shiro goes down in like 2 mins flat. we did it today with a random PUG in 1 min 32 secs. As ranger alone it takes longer of course. but I have seen a warrior solo him as well... In any case...
The best story line mission is the Risu Palace. Thats the 2nd to last mission. and its very fun. The Final mission is a simple final Battle extension of the Palace. They just were being REALLY REALLY nice to give to a staging area in between.... Makes returning to the divine path a whole lot easier...
Of course there is elite missions and challenge missions that are FANTASTIC as well. BUt its hard to get a pUG for them atm. not sure why... Well I know why on elite I'm not that dense. lol But some of the challenge mission have been giving me nice drops even with henchies. I would love to do a run on it with a full group...

I have no idea what mission your friend thinks is the last mission but i never saw any lvl 35 monsters...in fact in the last big mission the monsters are only lvl 28 with the very last short mission having ONE boss...Shiro at lvl 31 and the only objective to kill him.....
Read the posts the game would not be the same at lvl 50, 60 or 40 due to the rise in attributes which would unbalence the game.......also monsters levels in pve would have to be changed.
Oh and by the time you reach ascension in tyria you should be at lvl 16-17 if you followed the game correctly and did not get there from being ran...therefore it would get you to your max level
The level cap should stay as it is.They already said somewere in a statement that the level cap would not rise.

I heard somewhere that there would be 5 chapters in total. What would have been nice would be if say the level cap raised by 10 for each chapter, also increasing the level of the tougher monsters.

They should never have called it levels in the first place. 1/20 and 2/20 etc would have been better than level 1, level 2 etc.

You're totally wrong.
After reaching level 20 you can :
- finish all the missions, bonus and quests
- learn all skills from your two classes
- capture all elite skills
- try to buy 15k armors and FoW armor
- explore the high level areas : UW, FoW, Tombs, Furnace...
- explore all the map
- try to gain some titles
Attaining lvl20 in GW never meaned that you finished the game. And gaining lvls is not challenging. But explore all the high lvl areas is.

I've noticed a lot of people are still complaining about imbalance; yet we're not asking for a change to attributes, hp, or mp. Despite how it would be nice.
Even in Final Fantasy, you didn't lose balance by leveling to 99 because there would still be very difficult monsters who were levels 80-99 who could dish out and take as much damage as you could.
I do agree that it is not fair that enemies can have higher levels than we can. How the hell is that balance? It's not. Take a warrior and go outside Deldrimor War Camp and fight a carver. The carver is level 24 and even with 15 attribute points in my attacking choice; I can only hurt it for roughly 10 damage on average. 18 if it's a critical. Seems a bit off doesn't it?
So how is this game balanced when the enemies are able to be level 20+ and stronger than we are? We should at LEAST have a chance to have a level cap of 30 to be EQUAL and BALANCED with the enemies we fight. In Factions is a perfect example too.

The game has been designed for level 20 cap. You can't just raise it without breaking the balance. Guild Wars is different approach. That is why I like it. You don't understand the game if you think there is nothing to do after level 20
You will gain "levels" by learning better strategies. That is the point.

Well it helps if you read through these posts. Some people want the cap raised because there's nothing to do after reaching level 20 BECAUSE of the following:
- Farming gets boring
- PvP eventually gets boring
- Exploring has been done
- Titles have been unlocked
- and many other issues...

Yes but you're not alone now are you?
You have 8 guys lvl 20+2 vs 1 guy lvl 24. How fair is it for the lvl 24 monster?
So what you're asking for is making GW easier?
(Did you get into an elite mission by any chance? If you did then I just won 20k because I made a bet that once the elitemission complainers could play the elite mission, they would start complaining about difficulty)
Btw, how can you "balanced" or "equal" if the monster you fight isn't even half as smart as this: http://www.physorg.com/newman/gfx/news/sonyaibo.jpg
GW is balanced. 12 human players vs an army of scripts.
I've played things that had high caps. In the end, all we did was fight the same stuff to find better items so we could fight the stuff that gives those items better. X.x
Then we'd all show off with our Soulsundering Fiery Glintsword of Superiour fortitude +300.
And then some brat would come along and hack the servers and everyone would have lost all of it.
Think of the workinghours that go into all that. Think of the manpower. Think of what else could have been done. Think of all the botfarmers who would show up.
I see absolutely zero point in raising the lvlcap.
I'd rather have ANet add more skills or something (newsflash, a lvl 20 char is not maxed, it's only maxed if the char itself is UAX, has all titles and all 200 attributes)

And those monsters aren't alone either. Haven't you ever wanted to try and solo areas and explore, without the terrible AI of hench or bad players with you?
I'm not asking for Godmode here or anything, just some more balance by raising the cap. A lot of areas in Factions can overpower you with a mob of 5 monsters, even if you have 8 in your party.

Tarun hit it right on the head, I pretty much delete characters at least once a month just so i have something new to do.
I'm a hardcore PvE'er, and as much as i don't want to say it.. the game is getting boring for me once again. My Friends and I left back in october because we found the game incredibly boring after only 1 month time, and the only reason i even log on to GW anymore is for my Guildies if they need help in a specific area.
Djvandal, Kinda off topic, but when did you get your 2 Jedi's? cause if you got them on the true "old" system.. then that had to have taken you a long time and gave you something to do for a good 7 months at least... or had a good amount of luck in unlocking..
