even though i only have a mere 300k i don't see why there is even a cap in the first place. especially the 100k on your character cap, it makes trading harder for the people that sell 100k+ items..
for the people replying about not signing it and not signing it cause it's "physically impossible" have you ever had over 40k yet alone sold an item for over 100k?
Last time i checked this was a game... not real-life.. so who cares if you character can't physically hold that much... do you think we should also lower the amount of space in our inventory as well because it's not possible to hold 45 items + armor + weapons and shield?

That's one of the fun aspects of the game. Inventory management. You can hoard your gold and materials and your collectible drops.
You don't have enough space for everything in the game so what do you keep? Do you cash in your materials and drops for gold? Whoa, my gold storage is full! Better buy ectos - price of ectos drops! Just lost a ton of gold. Crying because your trying to get richer by playing the buy/sell game and lose is just too bad.
I don't feel any sympathy for those players that want to hoard and then whine about how little space they have. Nothing wrong with keeping enough materials and gold to help out others in your Guild when they want that new set of armor.
But if you wanted to get that FoW armor, keep your materials, usually take up 4 or 5 spaces in your inventory then take your 75k and go get it. Buy your ectos/shards whatever when you have the gold then when you have everything you need go get your armor.
If you want to hoard - do it! But buy yourself the extra slots when they become available this summer so maybe Chapter 3 will be a little cheaper to buy with my real money.

Exactly, this is a game. What's more is that it's a FANTASY game. Reality goes out the door right there.
Ever heard of limits on a bank account? Neither have I. You can deposit as much as you want. Heck, I used to work for a bank, so I know it's a fact that you can put as much money into your accounts as you want with no limits. Bankers will advise you to put money into other things such as IRAs, CDs and so forth, but never will they limit you on the money you hold. If you deposit or withdraw anything over $10,000.00 you have to have your ID documented for gov't purposes, but you can still deposit/withdraw as much as you like, with no limits. :P
/signed - no more limits :P

1600k is more than enough for anything. There is not really any point in having that much money anyways. I keep a steady 500k and it suits me fine. If you can make 1600k, then you could most likely easily make back any money that you spent.
However, I am for letting your character carry more than 100k. I hate having to accept/trade ectos as currency, especially now since their value is continuing to go down.

There has to be caps placed within the game on everything that has a numerical value.
From a programming point of view each variable (amount of gold on slot 1 , amount of gold in storage, type and quantity of ectos in backpack slot 1) has to be allocated in memory. This means that the space in memory to hold the size of the variable is set aside, even if you have no gold in your storage or on your character.
Therefore every single character and storage has to have the space allocated on the servers. They have to allow for the maximum number of users on at any one time and ensure that they will be able to reserve the space for all of the variable within the game! Maybe they will increase it at some point in the future.
I put the importance of the increase on the gold cap right beside the hairstylist and name changer. Get around to it by Chapter 5 or 6 is good enough for me.

you know what i do when iam out of storage space for gold? ebay it, it gives you the space, and a few bucks to spend on nice things for yourself. gg
for those who say that if you have 1600k, then losing 100k won't hurt you. you probaly never farm for over a mil before, so you probaly don't know what your talking about. most ppl with over a mil farm at the right time and the right place. what does that mean? you ask?. well.....finding the most lucrative place and farm it 24/7 till they nerf it. for example...tengu farming and ids soloing. ppl can pull in 200-300k day with these spots early on, but when they nerfed it, or alot of ppl knowing about it, its not even worth farming anymore. so in conclusion, having 1600k doesn't mean you have a steady gurantee income of X amount of gold per day. having 1600k just means that you got lucky and found a few great spot and grind it until they nerfed it. after they nerf them, ppl who have 1600k probaly make the same amount of money daily as everyone else.
UNLESS your in the trading business, but as you can see, in the trading business you can even lose money. but i never touch the high end trading business, too risky for me.
I maxed out money(1400k) after about 2 weeks of tengu farming, then spend money like mad cuz i cant store anymore. after it gets nerf, i lay dry and eating up till i barely have 1000k and 5k on each character. then i jump on the IDS train, make back the money in no time, spend like mad again cuz i can't store anymore. after everyone know how to solo IDS, i once again lay dry and haven't make any money since. with the release of faction i have no steady income and have to spend money on armors. now i have like 920k in storage with like 10k on each character.
this tragedy can be avoided if the storage cap was higher....like...um...9mil or somthing. and thats not even the end of it. after iam done with getting all my stuff, i'll be down to 600k. pls don't cry for me...iam just a victum, like the rest of us milionaires. my condolenses go out to all of you who caped your money and were force to convert it or spend it so you can make more.

That is against the EULA...Though it does give a small amount of cash (40$=1000k).

I dont get where you got the idea that GW is an MMo because its obvious it is not.
WoW is.
Final Fantasy Online is.
Everquest 1 and 2 is.
Lineage 1 and 2 is.
Conquer Online is.
Runescape is.
Rakion isn't.
Guild wars isn't.
Any game that does not allow players open maps cannot be termed as a MMO. There is NO Massive Multiplayer in GW heh not even in PvP Alliance battles. MMO means the map is "open" with thousand of players in the same map at any given time. GW lacks this and good thing it does too.

Gold can be acquired through trading, farming … or even E-bay. No matter how you acquire your gold, fundamentally it comes from the same source, Monsters.
Whether its collecting actual gold that drops on the floor when an unfortunate Charr falls clutching his throat and drops his wallet, or whether its from collecting items that you later convert to gold via a merchant, or another player, it all (except v small amounts) comes from killing beasties.
Now, this clearly means that gold acts in the same way as items. The amount of gold in the GW world is rising exponentially. It is freely available. This causes one major, uber big, economy slaying problem.
INFLATION
ANet must have realized this could manifest into an economy killing problem whilst creating the game, that would at least explain the cap applied to the maximum amount of gold you can carry on any given Character/ account.
In a static game world where the number of accounts was fixed, the gold cap would indeed be enough to stem inflation, or at least that inflation due to gold. However, we do not play in a static world (Phew), and there is a constant increase in the number of accounts. There is not even a limit to the amount of gold available to a given individual, as no one is stopping you from purchasing separate accounts.

Theres your answer on the gold cap. I doubt it will change anytime. But who knows.

OK the problem is with having limitless inventories is this in a nutshell...
The more gold someone can carry the more they can DEMAND for an item. IE Inflation.
If suddenly you can carry 1 million gold on your person Items in the game will suddenly jump SO high in price the average player will not be able to afford anything.
Now as far as I'm concerned who cares, I don't buy or sell shit anyway. I have no interest in it. I play the game, I don't farm it. Why waste my precious few hours a day doing something so stupid? The fact that people in the game have the hours upon hours of time to waste doing such farming activity only goes to prove that we are all immoral and disgusting people in real life and probably need some serious PsychoTherapy... I mean its one thing to be playing with my friends and they want help to get something for themselves and not have to pay 100K +50ecto for it that some idiot is expecting to sell it for... So I help them do that if they want. but that's playing with others. I much prefer this to playing with myself. (and yes I know that sounds bad in other ways as well) but point made I think...
I digress... But with limitless inventories it will not be long before we start seeing black dye for 200K, or End game Green or Elite Green drops for 1 million gold. or more...
Basically all this does is allow Gold resellers a better and faster way to make gold, AND increases the odds someone new to the game will use such services against teh EULA, instead of discouraging the NEED to inflate prices or to have some so called uber item... Anyone that played the game for long, Unless they are just absolutely anal about the particular skin of their stuff, will tell you that the BEST stuff in the game can be obtained for free and paying more then say about 30K for ANYTHING is ridiculous. You just need to look around for it. So why in the name of Dwyana would anyone waste what little legitimate gold they obtain for some over inflated "Item of the moment" that appears later in the game in most cases as a green drop or from crafters, and in many more cases for FREE! from collectors???
Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. Its not about the goodies.. ITS NOT ABOUT THE GOODIES!!!!!
Its about SKILL!!!!
Get that through your heads, and you'll be able to play the game no matter how much gold you have forever and never be scammed, or feel the need to break your EULA or RoC and buy gold.
OK I promise this is the last post I will make on this thread. But I think this and the above posts explain the reasoning quite well. And if that is not enough well I'm sorry...

PREACH IT BROTHER!!! or SISTER!!! just in case
Thats right GW is SKILL DEPENDANT not GEAR DEPENDANT. It is true the gear gives you some bonuses to your skills like 20% longer enchants or 20% chance faster cast. But GW is the only game where its not gear dependant. YOU DONT NEED AN UBER GEAR TO BEAT THE GUY NEXT DOOR. Once people get that across their heads things will be far more easier.
PS:
Im with you all the way about "Why waste my precious few hours a day doing something so stupid? The fact that people in the game have the hours upon hours of time to waste doing such farming activity only goes to prove that we are all immoral and disgusting people in real life and probably need some serious PsychoTherapy..." Of course thats why they have iffy BOTS now to do the hard boring WORK!

It's so pointless to have limits on a lot of things like GW has. A gold cap would be like a bank saying "Sorry, you can only have $100 in your account." That just does not happen.
