Restricting access on elite missions
I have been playing Guild Wars Prophecies for over a year and I have enjoyed it immensely. I awaited the release of Factions expecting more fantastic game play whilst understanding that the game would be somewhat different in style. I received my pre order key and played in the special event weekend and then ordered the Collectors Edition. After playing for quite a time now I find that I am frustrated by a number of in game issues. My main complaints are not being able to tell other players characters experience and being let down by inexperienced players and people leaving groups in the “Elite” area know as The Deep.
To combat this I would like to see a proper “Elite” mission created where access is only granted to characters that have more than 1,000 hours playing time and over 3.5 million XP. These restrictions I feel, would stop players just leaving their computers switched on to gain the required hours and completing high award missions such as Fissure of Woe, to gain the necessary XP. I know it would not stop people leaving, but hopefully the players that have achieved that level of dedication would behave with a more responsible attitude.

I'm quite shocked about both of yours suggestions.
Dont invite russians etc.? Thats like racism..
And hours played dont mean shit. And 3.5 Million xp? What the hell are you thinking? Not alot of players dont have that, and players with that amount of xp have usually farmed ALOT which dont make them a better player AT ALL.

95% Cartography? Rank 5+? 1000 hours+? 3.5 million xp? Can I point out how odd these suggestions sound? Firstly, mapping an area means you are good at exploration, not neccessarily a good player. Rank means nothing in PvE, it's like someone with a degree in Elementary Physics asking to work as a binman (don't get me wrong, binmen are cool). See post #3 for reasons for the other two.
We were all inexperienced once; just remember that before you have a go at anyone. Might I also add that if you can't tell how experienced someone is, how do you know if they are inexperienced?

Odd??? All the members of the guild that I am in have 95% Cartography, Fow armor, over 3.5 mil xp and more than 1,000 hours on a single char. It is not so rare, but owing to us being in different time zones we don't often have enough of us on line to form a team.
I know we were all inexperienced at one stage, but the amount of times I see other players stateing "No Noobs" can only IMHO go to reinforce my point.

1,000 hours played? Wow, your inviting someone who plays the game. 3.5mil exp? What does exp mean? It means you've killed enemies. Somebody can have 10mil exp and still be noobs. Why? because they could have wasted there time farming.
Sorry, but all these suggestions are, well, crap. If your mad about ragequitters and noobs, go in a guild group.

Wow, just like everyone else has said, these suggestions are crap.
1. 1000 hour played? Um, I know lots of people that have played for LOTS more than that and still suck. Hours played mean nothing...if you remember, ANet said that GW is based on skill, not hours played.
2. 3.5 million XP? Ok, I can see why you'd want high exp players, but that is stupid. I have 6 characters, each of which have anywhere from 350,000 - 900,000xp. Does that make me inexperienced? I don't think so...
3. Tyrian Cartographer 95% - map exploring means nothing.
4. And definitely try to join a PvE guild, if that is what you wish to do. It is much more fun and reliable.
And um....no comment on leaving out "foreign" players....that is just messed up....

The "Elite" missions were supposed to be gained as a show of skill. And while that idea obviously didn't work (farming faction points in mass amounts shows no skill); further adding insult to injury, adding a system that promotes yet more time over skill completely destroys even the consept behind the elite missions.
I am still hoping the alternate access methods will allow something skill related to gain entrance and not just more farming. How? I can't think of anything that would work... but I don't work for Anet so here's hoping.
As a last note: I match your "requirements" for entrance, but do not find them to cater to the casual player, and as such, is not for the better of the community and Anet's target player base.

I am saying 1,000 on one char and you have answered one of my other points, I can't see what XP you have you have earned, instead we have L20 max and what most posters on this thread believe to be useless titles. As for "foreign" we are all "foreign" to someone.

Heh, I don't really need to add much. Promoting regional prejudism is definitely the worst suggestion I've ever seen on any of these boards.
.....and considering that the original purpose of Guild Wars was a game that rewarded the skill of a player over time spent farming (farming Griffons for 900 hours does not make you more ready for the elite missions than someone who played the game through a few times and was very good at it....sorry) or repeating UW/FoW. I'm sure some of the best PvE players in this game are weekend warriors.

I am not advocating spoiling the enjoyment of the vast majority of players, I just want elite to mean what it says. I have spent time building up my character an unlike some only ever play the one. The issues that I raised in my first post are really spoiling the game for me. I believe that I have shown that I am a dedicated player and that I take it very seriously. To have to wait in “The Deep” mission area for on average 30 mins to find what looks to be a good team then spend another 15 mins clearing the first rooms and then to have someone leave, either because they died too easily or think that others in their group are no good is getting beyond a joke now.

Maybe you just need to work on your groupmaking skills?
I dunno, I've never had these problems, in The Deep or otherwise.

I've had problems with people in FoW armor, I've had problems with people who have Master Cartographer *coughCarinae&Arikcough*, let alone people with a mere 95% Cartographer, 1000 hours is nothing to many GW players, and most farmers have 3.5 mil easily. These restrictions are far from proper "elite," let alone trying to address the problems of leavers.
Oh, and the prejudice suggestion was deleted and the user temp banned. We don't allow that on this forum under any circumstance.

I've cleared the deep twice with my monk (didn't get any greens :[) and he doesn't even have 2,000,000 xp yet. Would you say that since I don't have 3500k xp and 1000 hours of play I am not capable?

But if I encountered you how would I know? That is my point! I am not saying you are not capable, I am saying that I don't have any basis to tell how advanced/skilled you are. A year ago L20 was something, now it's a level that can be gained in hours not weeks. I regret not asking contributers to this thread to state their xp and hours played so I could judge where you are really coming from.

EXP: Solo farm all day. I have farmed hydras, UW, Trolls, Minos, and griffens. I have almost 3 million XP now. Almost all of it is from solo farming.
Over all instead of experianced players you'd get a bunch of rich farm bots that aren't skilled at all. assuming farm bots care about elite missions...

The idea that you have brought out is terrible and would get even more people to quit guild wars. You are sounding like the pvp elitest equivalent on the pve side, its terrible and im shocked!

WTF I farmed like 3 mil (3000k) from flesh golems way back when and I don't think my war even has that much xp.... That would just be a mission full of 55 monks and griffin / troll farming wammos... pass.
