New PvP mode: Escort and Ambush
So how come theres no "protect" PvP mode?
Protect a certain NPC from a group of opposing players and make sure he gets from point A to B without going splat!
My idea:
A group of Krytan/Ascalon/Deldrimor/Canthan/Luxon/Kurzick Ambassadors has hired you to protect them through a well known bandit territory. Your team of 8 must escort 5 civilians to from one outpost to the next.
An enemy team composed of players hired by the Bandit King to ambush the ambassadors lies in your path.
The map is composed of branching paths but ultimately 1 start and 1 end.
You can split your team and take multiple branches with multiple NPCs, make a fakeout team, etc.
Each round is comprised of an escort and an ambush team. After the round ends, the teams switch. Best 2 out of 3 wins the match. Points are based NPCs kept ALIVE and KILLED. Individual player kills do not matter, only NPCs.
^^ what do you think?

Great idea. GvG sort of has that with guild lords, but not a true defend/attack mode.

How about another version of your idea were you have to break someone free (or res them) and escort them back. Resuce the hostages sort of thing. Team that sucessfully rescues/raises the most hostages wins.

I love the idea, perhaps one way to correct this is to make the teams unable to switch their builds up. This may not solve everything but i think it would help some.

Great idea though.

making arenas for lowbies would leave out the higher levels.
lowbies will eventually reach the top, wich is 20, and they will reach it fast, on the other hand, lvl 20s wont be able enter the arena.
besides, people would /ragequit if the dont have the maximun possible lvl in their team (for example, a max lvl 15 arena with 4 lvl 15s, if a lvl 9 enters it, one would prolly flame the lowbie, then quit)
i like the idea, how would you gather the teams? random style or entering by teams?
it would be a great idea (in my opinion) if there were two variants, one for a random style, and another for a composed team style.

I think that Jade Quarry is the closest thing to this idea. But nothing that is so direct.

You could equip the bandit side with teleports for ambushes^^

TFC use to have a map like this, it was the VIP map, the enemy team composed mostly of snipers and the escorting teamed composed mostly of tanks (soldiers). I could see the ambush team with a snare ranger and a few assassians =]

Make it like Alliance Battles, compulsary to enter the mission as a party of 4 players. Then automatically joined up with 2 more teams of 4 players. This would keep the leechers, freeloaders, AFKers out of these maps.
Kurzick vs Luxon would be more ideal I guess.
Does not make sense if the hero is helping the bandits.
Earn Kurzick or Luxon factions, each player on the victorious team gets rewarded with Equipment Requisitions or Luxon Totems.
Competitive Mission type, like Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry, only available to RPG characters.

Whilst the idea is definately interesting in concept, I think any PvP gametype that relies too much on NPC AI just isn't going to work. To many issues with pathing and AI. Remember how long it took for Anet to sort out the NPCs at VoD?
