Announcer Optional
Maybe it's just the fact that I've been playing Unreal Tournament 2004 as well as GW, but something clicked that it'd be kinda fun would be having an announcer for PvP and AB. Make it optional of course, but still, it'd be fun.
The announcer's voice would be only for:- Enchantments
- Hexes
- Conditions
- Victory
- Defeat
- Special Circumstances
In addition to the annoucer's voice, you could also have voices for shouts.
Under special circumstances would be stuff like:- Killing more than one enemy at once
- Killing 3 enemies in ## seconds (earn "Hat Trick")
- Being killed by the same person more than 5 times ("Frag Monkey".. or something similar)
- AOE nuking that affects 5 + enemies
- 10 + kills in a row (without dying)
- Getting hexed for more than #% of the match ("Unlucky")
- Being Enchanted for more than #% of the match ("FOrtunate Favored")
- Dying # of times ("Grenth Runner")
...etc, etc....
Just a concept, but I think it'd be fun. THen you could also set how often you wanted to hear the announcers voice. Like, once ever # number of hexes, enchantements, or whatever.
Just a thought, but I'd like to have some voices in the game. It's enhance the PvP experience (IMO).

I tried UT2004 and the onslaught mode is a blast to play.
Back on topic, for a FPS this might make sense but not for a CORPG that doesn't focus on aim and such.

Yeah... just something to add excitement.
After my wife started playing WoW, I saw how many more voices there were to the game's world. Much nicer than how GW is the silent characters (except during the FMV's).

Would definetly love it. Don't make it say 'godlike' or the game gods might be offended

I think many of these will happen too often in a game so it will become really annoying. I think it should be limited to the announcements we already have in text-form. Returned a flag, killed a priest, that sort of thing. Especially in alliance battles, maybe people will actually capture defence points instead of running into the big group so they can get killed and do more harm than good, now that they also get an audio hint of the more important stuff going on. The big battle which basically just feeds the minion masters does not help either team. In fact the less people busy with the big team, the more people left to do the actual work to win. So it could improve AB a lot.
As for the shouts being spoken, that would be awesome, and they should try to pronounce cry of frustration as well.

Hmm... Cry of frustration... that'd be nice.
As far as the rest, it's like I say... have a setting where you can choose how often/what triggers audio events.

WoW's soundtrack is so much better. More upbeat and can really get you into the game. Beats the hell out of the dull and repetitive "music" by Jeremy Soule or whatever his name is. People turn the music off before they even get out of pre-searing.

Yeah, I turned the music of so long ago. Not worth it.
Still, they should put a lot more vocal work into the game. An announcer is just the tip of the ice berg. It's like they only put speech in during the FMV's b/c it's expected for modern RPG's.
Even if they doubled the voices, it'd be much better.

/signed for adding the announcer to PvP
It would be nice if you could select the announcer voice like in UT2K4.
ie: male, female, sexy... and for GW, evil or good, Balthassar, Dwayna, or Grenth?
also,
/signed for adding voices to NPCs in PvE
This could be applied to the henchies, quest givers, merchants, etc...
*EDIT* I would also want an option to turn the voices off. */EDIT*

Frankly, I thought GW's music was quite a bit better than WoW's. I mean, I still listen to Soule's stuff. 90% of my time playing WoW was spent listening to something else.
