Make /resign usefull
When the news came to me about the new emote /resign, which allows you party to return and give up the current mission, I was thrilled.
Times it didnt work:
So first time it occured that my party needed it, we were with 7 humans and 1 healer Hench. We all entered /resign command... nothing happened. Why? because I suspect henchies need to enter the command as well.
Second time: We started mission too early, healer didnt change skillset yet... so, we all entered /resign command. Except for the spanish guy that didnt understand english and couldnt enter /resign, because he uses a different language....
Third Time: Party of 8 entered mission, but one of the (crucial) members was afk and it appeared he wouldnt return any time soon. We all entered /resign, except that guy ofcourse. Nothing happened... all decided to suicide, but that didnt work too, cos that 1 guy was still alive.... again broken down a good party.
... list continues...
Times it DID work:
First and only time I saw how resign works is when I did 1 vs 1 in GH and we got tired of beating the crap out of eachother.
There are probably numerous threads about this subject, but I just hope Anet reads my post and considers the various scenarios properly.
Scenario 1 (bad) could have a VERY easy solution, if they can't figure that out, please contact me and for a proper salary, I'm willing to share my thoughts about it.

I've had the problem with using /resign with henchies too, and I sure it wouldn't tkae long to fix.

As for working in a team perhaps 75% of people resigning is enough to abort the mission? The fact is people mostly resign because someone is afk or there is a problem. Requiring all players to type it seems to defeat its purpose! Obviousely it needs to be a high enough percentage to stop people ruining the game!

The description in the update said something about missions, thats why I was interested. Anyways, it is possible to do the command and you get confirmation, so I guess you can do it outside PvP.
The obvious solution would be as suggested above to have a certain percentage of the human players to resign. So lets say there is a group of 6 humans and 2 henchies. Then if 4 people give resign command, that should be enough to trigger it.

I submitted this as a bug report a while back, they are working on it and there should be a fix soon.

I don't think it's a PvP only command. The patch notes say it works in missions. A bit vague, as ANet always is. If it doesn't work in PvE, why not? There is no reason why it shouldn't.
Mind you, so far it seems that it doesn't work at all, which is even worse.

Well, I just tried it out while being solo in a mission... doesnt work.... so another reason it should be made USEFULL (see topic).
We need it just as bad as the PvPers.

/resign When used in PvP by all team members, the other team is victorious. When used in PvE it appears to have no effect.
From guildwiki.

honestly explain to me why PVE would have a use for this. press m, select town, try again... or there is this thing called communicating through chat window. try it and make sure everything is in place before you go

The thing is... we spend sometimes hours to find a perfect party... only to find out later that someone forgot a skill or whatever and we want to get back to town. For some reason, usually a party that you spens so much time on gathering is split up then and never formed again.
Usually we all die, to safe us the trouble from finding a new party again. So that we teleport back cos we lost the mission. And then we can restart. That is why we need it.
I dont play PvP so I dont see any reason why you guys need it, but I suppose there is a perfect explanation for it.

Its use in PvE is simply to keep a team together. It would be much easier if you enter a mission (ie you can't just rezone) to have everyone type /resign then have everyone map to the same district and then have to reinvite each member.
It would be a convience.

Isnt the goal of PvP annihilating the other team? So why would you need a suicide function?? Unless you want to give the other team easy points or something, but I dont understand any PvP mechanics.

The /Resign is there for people who are outclassed and feel that they cannot win under the circumstances, as in Err7, Turtling, or just being rolled.

I do PvP and PvE both, so I'm not trying to create a schism here, but...
Explain to me how in PvP you can't hit M, select Random/Team/HoH, try again...
IMHO it should be practicable for BOTH situations.
