Any drop assigned to you stays to you.
I have been doing UW and FoW chest runs for a long time now. Alot of times, when doing 2 man UW, an ecto will drop assigned to me(Bieng the SS necro). At that moment, the 55hp monk will purposly lure the enemies back to me and kill me. Then, he will wait 2 minutes for the drop to become "nuetral" and pick it up for himself, and then leave the group. The same thing happens in FoW chest runs. I die a few feet away from my "perfect" drop, and some guy comes in and picks it up, and then leaves.
What I want Anet to implement is the same drop system that is in missions. If you do not pick it up, it is given to you at the end of the mission. Also, the drop never goes nuetral, so no one else has the ablility to pick it up. So, if no one resses you, you can leave the group and still get your drop when you return to a town or outpost. Just my lil idea after playing this game for a year

i always thought it should just automatically appear in the inventory as soon as it 'drops', provided there is room. that way people don't run halfway across the battlefield to pick up their drop, while a fight is still going on

That is why if you're going to 2 man or do FoW chest runs take Guildies...or in the case of Chest Runs take a majority of guildies...cause they shouldn't be out to screw ya like that and if they do then perhaps you're in the wrong guild

Why you click on a topic named "Any drop assigned to you stays to you." if you already been in 23847283746345 that say the same??
And what search you mean?? The one that is disabled 90% of the times???
On topic:
Agree.
Maybe a release option to use if you trust your team and there is no way to rez would be nice.

I agree with the OP, any drop assigned to a character should always be assigned to that player. It would eliminate problems, and create none, in my opinion.

i'd say the drop remains for you if you are dead in those 2 minutes. so lets say you die 1:55 after it has been dropped.. it still remains for you.. untill you are res'ed, then it should give you an aditional 2 minutes to get it. and so on. also the idea about getting all the loot in your inventory is not good at all. if you help a guildie with a newbie quest/mission then your invent is full of crap at the end of it. or you even get things you dont want and your invent gets full. at that very same time something "perfect" dropped and you cant take it. that would make the idea silly

Things time out in missions too. Only things to show up in that inventory window at the end are the last pieces that haven't timed out yet for you.

I agree to the no time out rule. If the mission ends and you are not permitted to take the item, then I feel no one should have it at all. I do not support thieves.

Drops losing assignments creates other problems. For example, I've had the only monk or the only warrior typing "brb" in FoW, and then we all watched as he ran off, and retraced our steps to the start in FoW, picking up all the unclaimed items along the way. Then he quit. We all thought it was incredibly rude and selfish.
I also had a monk wait by a shard that someone didn't pick up once, meaning we didn't have a monk for a while. I don't know why the person didn't want his shard, but it caused drop camping. A lot of the party hung back, hoping to run in and get it, but it was the monk that stayed by it after we all just moved on.
Another problem is confusion. There was a nice drop for me once, clearly assigned to me, and someone dead in the party was watching from my point of view. This meant it looked like it was his drop to him, and he asked for it. I told him it was my drop, but he thought I was being a lamer and drop stealing. He kept initiating trade, but I wasn't going to give him something I knew was mine. If the drops were always assigned this confusion wouldn't happen.

On the one hand, its good that itf you don't want a drop other people can get it. On the other hand, there have been times when I've been in a battle for so long that my drop becomes open to all, and then gets picked up by one of the team warriors simply because they are closest to it (its usually white so I don't care).
So I propose that if you die or become involved in combat the drop timer will reset and be paused till your resed and out of combat.

when u are a monk, it's physically NOT possible to go to the front line and picks up your loot... and a battle can easily last for more than 2minutes
