Player vs "Mob" PvP
Picture this - a new type of PvP Arena that matches two teams for combat - one team composed of regular player characters, the other composed of a mob from the PvE environment, only with each "monster" being controlled by a human player.
The players on the "mob" team would get no control of skill bar choice, no control of attributes or weapons (except weapon set switching if the PvE monster has weaponsets) - their set up would be exactly the same as the PvE monster found in the "wild." The "mob" team should include one boss, and should probably be limited to six players where the human team can have eight for balance (this would have to be monkeyed with, possibly - is being limited to 4 skills and having no control over what they are or your attributes enough balance vs the higher attributes?)
To avoid fighting over who gets to be the boss, the arena should work like Random Arena for assigning the Mob team, players would just hit "Enter Battle As The Mob", the system would gather six (or eight, depending on balance issues) people, choose a random mob and assign the players randomly to play one of the monsters, then match them in the arena with a "regular" team that was formed the normal way (ie, gather team of eight, leader pushes Enter Mission button.)
I think this would be a heckuva lot of fun, either to play as the Mob controlling a monster character with high attributes (if limited skills) or as the regular team, going up against a mob that reacts intelligently rather than the game AI.
I think Lord Balthazar would be pleased, don't you?

I like this.
A lot. However, I don't think you should get to choose if you get to be in the mob or not.
If you keep the level to 20 and the boss level 22 or 24 it'd be cool.

Well, I have to disagree there. I think for it to work the "human" players need to have the opportunity to build their team as if they were preparing for a PvE mission, choosing their team, synergizing skills, ordering the party, etc. A random team wouldn't be balanced vs the higher attributes of the "monster" players. I'd make the boss level 28 and the other mob members level 24. Still might need to limit the mob team to six players for balance.

don't like it, the whole playing as the monster thing would kill my interest in the game -- even if I never need to do it/come in contact with the ability to do it.

The reason I don't think they should get to choose is because a lot of people would go for the mob team instead of human. I'm not saying EVERYONE would go for it, just probobly more.
But whatever, you're idea not mine.
This is just my version of it.
