When you ban bots...
... give their runes back to the trader.
Now they just get new accounts, buy a new set of runes, and the prices skyrocket.

Some of the botters are ignorant one-timers that wont do it again. Then you have some that have a marriage liscense with Ebay - so they'll rot in hell.
It can't be 'just' the botters that are making the prices skyrocket. The rune prices fluctuate all the time. Even when the event ended, most of the dyes had sold out...
The economy is trustworthy to a point, and changes cant be pinpointed on a group of dedicated botters who seem to have control over the market... umm... do they?

Do it! It'll give people a nice price break on runes when bots get mass banned.

/notsigned and further more I would probably quit the game if they did something so stupid lol.
Example:
*Mass Bans 4000 accounts* (1000 or so of which were worngly banned)
*All runes from these go to trader.
*MANY of the bans were wrong, and they start giving the accounts back.
*Joe-Nobody logs into freshly regotten account and finds out all of his expensive runes are gone (which probably means his FoW ARmor that runes were on are gone)
Joe-Nobody comes to Guru and makes 50000000 topics about how he is ragequiting the game now. And rightly so.

Then make the runes go to the traders after a week or so in the event of an accidental banning.

and because of this /signed. But why stop at runes? Dyes, rare and common materials should also be granted the same fate.

Or just not return them at all. With the increased attacks on bots, more accidental bans are going to occur, and Helios' scenario would become far more frequent.
I would freak with all the bad PR... not to mention the mods would go postal.

Did you know that new runes are constantly being introduced into the market?
