I agree, ANet has made it so a lot of people will ahve to spend money all over again to get their armor back up to snuff, that's the whole point of the exchange. Throw us a bone here

The global thing was a bug. Yes it lasted for a very long time but Anet calls it a bug fix so it was a bug. As I understand it, exploiting a bug violates the Eula and is grounds for a ban. Be happy you got the free ride for so long and be happy they're not enforcing the exploit punishment.
You spent sooo much money but not because you had to but because you wanted to look cool in town. The boots still function fine for that purpose. Not to mention the buff they got (-3 instead of -2) for all those nasty spike traps

The snake Dance CCS shield and this is two totally different issue, Anet just change the shield back to what it should be. So is an invalid reason.
For Anet to replace your Ascalon/Knight armor to another with different stats though you have chosen to buy it in the first place on your own free will, and is basically still the same armor performing as Anet intended it to be, good luck with it. Hey if Anet allows the exchange, good for all! Next we will see players demanding exchange of 1.5k and 15k Ascalon/Knight armor too.

Can you quote that part of the Eula, please? This is just stupid...
/signed, for 1.5k armors too. Because the players who cannot afford to buy 15K armors are penalized just as everybody. On a side-nore I'm waiting for extra slots to make a mesmer and I hate my warrior so it's not a big deal for me.

Item 18 in the Rules of Conduct FTW
You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars. Bugs should be promptly reported via "Ask a Question" at http://support.guildwars.com.

i know i already did unsigned but why should only 15k and fow armor people get to exchange? 1.5k armor people payed money also and they should get the oppurtunity. Chances are if you can ay for the armor you can rebuy the pieces you want. Quit complaining on forums and go get your other piece of armor, what i did.

I've already recrafted the boots from FoW now that my knight's version were obsolete. I realized when purchasing them that even though the global nature of ascalon/knight's armor had been present since GW went live, there was a chance someday they would correct it.
For 8 months I had the advantage the boots offered on my FoW armor, but now I switched to a different version of the same armor as I didn't expect many opponents to make critical strikes on my feet...heheh

just because its not fair from anet! im maybe a lucky guy coz i didnt have the materials together for my 15k but if id had before the weekend id wasted 15k for useless boots...
so just plain and simple: give them the opportunity to exchange their armor type or whatever

you guys you cant say they are useless. Take your so called "useless" boots off and fight without them im sure you will take more damage, yes they do still have a use but not when the damage was global. This update makes the game more realistic and asking your gold back is just crazy talk.
