make 2nd birthday presents customized to character (or account)
Birthday presents, IMO, aren't supposed to be an easy 30k. They shouldn't be sold, they are to show that you've had the game for over a year. Why should people who have played a few months and gotten a lucky drop be able to get a bone dragon? I know Anet's policy is to allow everyone to get everything (except crystalines), but I think birthday presents shouldnt be easy cash, they should be something to be proud of and show off.

meh,
i could sign as well as not sign this.
sign because:
pets are something special
not sign because:
they are their pets, if they want to sell them, then let them go and sell them. ill probably be buying a mini turtle if none of my other characters get it.
6 months remaining for my monk.
11 months remaining for my other characters...
so in the end.
/notsign.

I think you SHOULD be able to sell them. Just not for money. Minipets "red engine go" up the economy too much. 1 Mil for a bone dragon pet that just sits there and doesn't attack... 12k for a whole damn island for my guild. Just doesn't make sense so instead of selling them for money I think we should be able to buy/sell them for faction. Sell them for 1k faction buy them for 10k. (To the trainer) That way people are not so quick to get rid of them and screw up the economy but they are still prized items that people should be proud to display.

Not signed. Horrible idea.
You should be able to sell your mini pet for any amount of money you want. There is nothing wrong with that. They are already very limited in their use, no need to make them almost totally useless by customizing them.
Making them sellable was the right way to go and to change that would be a horrible fubar.

If people want 30k for their birthday instead of a pet, why stop them? As for screwing up the economy, they do nothing of the sort. They don't affect the prices of other things, a guild hall being 12k is completely seperate from minipet pricing. If anything, they encourage trading and stimulate the economy.

/notsigned. If I do not like the mini-pet I'm assigned, I want the ability to obtain one that I do like instead. The easiest way to do that is via the buy-sell market.
I'd hate to have gotten stuck with my fungal wallow, instead of having my lovely Kuunavang...

NO!
Free trade is absolutely required in this game.
If you don't allow the items to be traded freely, there will be even MORE ebaying/buying/selling of accounts, as people who don't know any better and have money to spend will do whatever is necessary to get it.
The only way I could see a gift like this working, is if it were a set of armor. But even then, there would be people asking to trade the armor around freely so that they could get the armor design they wanted.

They are a gift from A.net, why limit it's uses. If people need cash they sold em, birthday presents all around to those entering and just beginning Guild Wars.
