I'm suggesting that instead of throwing up a random error 165, the game should use the same mechanic as the Guild Wars: Factions preview event: you can log in to previously made pvp characters, they're simply locked out from real use.

I can't see any harm to it, and many players including myself had items or at least medallions sitting on those characters at 3am EST when we were immediately tossed out of the game due to error 165.

Apparently the other thread I posted turned into a flamefest?

So please, no dolts butting in and posting about Nightfall pvp character balance, that's irrelevant. Mods please do your job and delete flames, instead of locking a real thread.

The current mechanic is just less attractive in general than before, but the code is already there to use.

From what I remember, the Factions event you were referring to, they said it was not supposed to happen, ie, faction characters still being able to login.

You can still login your character tho as long as your primary isn't any of the GWN professions.

I understand your frustration.

But I think ANet do have a valid reason. For one, there are still lots of changes to be made, as well as improvements and enhancements. Those must be kept a secret, lest they want to be smashed in the records because their competitors are well prepared

There is a reason we have been locking threads like this, and will probably continue to for a while. You received prior warning to the event that characters could not be accessed afterwards. If you choose to continue playing until the very end of the event, without transfering the items in your inventory to your storage, then its really your own fault.

Also, please do not repost a thread that has been closed. We closed the last one for a reason, and we'll close the next one because we already closed the first one. All of these "let me get back on my Nightfall character" posts are just going to be flamed, really, you had your warning. I know the people on this forum, all they'll do is either laugh at you or type /signed.

Please do not repost this again.
