k, how about making the weapon customization cost a lot, say...10k per change or the standard 15k that way only the best( aka richest) can afford it, and you have something for the lowbies to strive for

being rich doesn't make you the best and by all your complaining i know you have the max gold you can have. but guess what it doesn't matter this idea was for the newbies and non farmers who want to have something that looks good not the elistis scum and farming punks.
and futher more GW was never ment to be a grinding play by hours not by skill game.you are suggesting that by playing more and farming your *** off you are better than everyone els that is not true that just means you have way to much free time.

I feel like /signing this again. I'd counter Red Sonyas argument but I can't be bothered so I'll just say each upgrade costs more than the last, so you still have your elitism but also have more customization. Lovely.

the point in changing the look of the weapon is for personal preferences. l really personally don't care for most of the sword and axe and hammer styles...

LOL FTW! xD ...er, actually, in total i probably have about 150k (100k in gold, rest in materials); and 15k isn't that hard to make, take you like an hour at most to make it farming in desert. and what you talkin about...this isn't a grinding game? :P you mean you all spend less than 15hrs a day playing xD ...what do you all have? Lifes! :O *wants one!*
as to another reason why i think it should cost a lot...i have two charcters with 15k armor (ranger has 2 pieces, warrior has 4pieces + 1 desert collector helm) and i worked my ass off to get the materials and gold, it was a goal. by setting the cost high on weapon customization, ppl with aspire to get the gold and/or materials too
*BTW: if i seem like an ass, it's just my persona...i'm actually a nice guy and love to help out when i can : D

That sounds so cool! And i dont agree that it should have to cost loads and be really hard, people should have the ability to have totally unique characters and stuf from the offset (unlike it is now).
Although i dont think we should just focus in weapon customisation, for me armour is the next thing on the list for customizable items. I hate walking into town and meeting my identical twin!

I have been thinking the same thing. This game needs more customization, more items, and more armor! I liked the way Diablo 2 did it, but the same quests over and over became boring and the graphics weren't too great. If Blizzard and Arenanet teamed up, they could make a truly great game!

I love this idea....im with it 100% but if they do this, people that are creative/artistic wil make some really good looking ones and sell them to the people that are not so creative and artisitc, and make a ton of money.
Right now if u customize your weapon it will be for u only, im guessing that customizing the looks will be for you only and not to sell it to other people.
This will not only help the GW economy but the "elite" weapons that drop will still be at high price.

I'd sign that idea but more around 100k per customization just to keep it more on the richer side of things.

the hole point of this is to make it so everyone can do it not just the 1% of the ppl who have 100k to blow

would bring a nice balance to the economy as those silly "good" looking weapons wouldn't be going for so much if you could make an even better looking one for cheaper, or more expensive, depending on what components you use.

Wow, I smell some anger. Sorry, but I gotta disagree with ya. I actualy like the way GW is set up. I like the fact that 'noob' players can get good strong weapons even if they don't look as '1337' as other player's stuff. To me this means that those new to the game can be just as effective as those who have played longer. Not only that, but they still have a reason to keep playing and to keep earning wealth. Farming is by far not the only way to earn money. Often, farming isn't really that far off from regular questing and missions, except solo farming, that seems a bit dull to me.
I personally have 6 lvl 20 char and most have several sets of droks armor and some have a set or two of 15k armor and all of em have at least a couple green items. I'm not saying this to brag, but rather to prove a point. Someone that is relatively noob to the game can have a single lvl 20 char that has goten to Droks and is just as powerful as my character (ex: most greens are equivalent to collector's weapons).
I personally fell in love with this game, because I was able to get a strong character on my feet quickly without being completely overwhelmed and overlooked by older players who had put in more hours than me. What kept me loving this game is that I still have so much I want to do. I know the new green items won't make others think I'm some uber kool pwner of all noobz, but I like the way my characters look and I don't find anything wrong with that. I don't do it to show off and have no trouble giving to others who need a hand with quests/missions/finance/items.
So please don't oversimplify things by trying to insinuate that everyone that has fancy looking armor/weapons is just another elitist scumbag that has no respect for others. Maybe, jsut maybe there are people out there who are still good people, that have just played the game a lot and would still like to have something to strive for...
And as for this thread, I think that would be a great idea. I would love to be able to customize my weapons visually.
