The Assassin should be able to teleport through doors.
Alright so the PvP chars being allowed in Fort Aspenwood get me all excited cause now i can bring my Assassin there and teleport through the doors so I can cause havoc on the bonding monks behind them buffing the NPCs....right?
Wrong! Not only can the Assassin not teleport through the amber doors, they can't teleport up on the central divider to attack the archers and casters up there...
So really...what's the point of having teleports at all?
Sure they give some mediocre defensive abilities. But really, if I can't get a tactical edge on my enemy because some how teleports take into account solid objects, what's the point?
Give me a freaking grappling hook and a rope instead.
Hence, make it so teleports can ignore doors, please.
Also, don't give me the "Then the Assassin could just teleport to the end and kill the target NPC."
Two counter points:
-Well then you better keep your eyes open for such a possibility.
-Assassins aren't tanks and I highly doubt they'd get that far in a strict run with no support.

if assassins could go through doors ...what would stop them from running in and going to kill all the gatekeepers and architects? they could just go in and kill them....ruining the point...

So you're saying you want an assassin version of the Necromancer exploit that allows you out into the arena before the match starts? No thanks.

I think this is a great idea, already shadow stepping and assassins stink, this would be a good buff.

Balance please.
Shadow Stepping =/= Teleporting
Shadow Stepping is more like moving REALLY really fast.

Shadow Stepping is fine the way it is. If you're not a fan of it, then don't use it. Assassins can be perfectly fine without having the (obviously not balanced) ability to "teleport through doors."

At all.

Assassin shadowstepping could use a buff. It's the ability that actually makes them unique and it kinda sucks as it is right now.
However, going through obstacles should not happen. Even the necromancer shouldn't be able to do that. It has opened up expoits and this would just add even more. I mean, Fort Aspenwood already favours the Luxon side as it is, and you want to make it even harder for the Kurzicks? NO.
And don't pass off shadowstepping to Gunther as if that's simply something to watch for. You do realize that anyone can take an assassin secondary, don't you? If the Kurzicks have to leave 1 or 2 people behind next to Gunther at all times (besides those sodding leechers), they will never win.

Hey undivine.. are you the person that created that flash about the thing in your avatar?
And now to topic.
I think shadowstepping through doors is stupid. It overrules the purpose of shadowstepping, and turns it into another potential exploit.

Really? you think assassins should teleport through doors and heightmap walls? Try playing a few gvgs, then rethink your idea.

Here is why necromancers can tele through doors:
Things have to die, which means 2 things:
1: Your team is already through the door/wall
2: You can't click and choose exactly where you want to teleport. It's a random corpse in your aggro bubble.
Shadow stepping has restrictions because you can choose exactly where to go (with the exception of vipers defense and heart of shadow), and because if sins could walk through doors, gvgs would be too gay. That's right. They would have sex with men.

They do need to work on shadow stepping though. In Aspenwood I kept trying to AoD up to people on the walls of those corridors between the gates, half the time it worked and half the time I ended up at the base of the wall...

Shadow Stepping is not teleporting. When you shadow step, it's like moving infinitly fast to get from where you are, to where your target is. Last time I checked, if there is a door in the way, you will run straight into it, not phase through it.
Necromacer Teleporting (and Rebirth) make sense. They need to have a corpse, meaning they have to kill something to teleport. Alternatively, assassins can shadow step to; enemies, allies, and spirits, and don't even have to fight to do this.

'Sins shadow step, not teleport, so hiding the shadows isnt really teleporting is it?
IMO Shadow step is alreeady a bit messed up with the no Z-axis in the game, theres some missions that can be nicely made easyier with a shadow step.

Anet should first buff the non-maintained targeted shadowstepping skills.
I would rather spam Death's Charge more often for less of a health bonus, or Return's recharge for less, or no cripple effect at all.
In GvG, I've gotten trapped in doors (Meaning they closed when I was in their path), and that was annoying.

With shadow steping you can only get to the position if you can walk the anyway. so if there is a door you won't be able to shadow step, but if the door is destroyed you can shadow step up to the balcony
someone said it very well, its just moving to the location very fast.
so you need to be able to move to that location anyway.
