Wings Wings Wings Wings!!!!
First of all, I'm sorry if there is another thread similar to this one.. Search is down atm. Well.. in a game I used to play called Mu-Online, wings were considered like FoW armour is in guildwars. Now, since GW runs abit different to MU I have considered some changes:
- No AL? But doesnt count to your total Al.. like an extra armour spot
- One effect for each class
- Cost alot more than FoW OR Cost nearly noting at all.
If they are too expensive.. people might take advantage of the richer people with them.. eg. "group needs 1 winged tank 7/8"
so maybe make the options something crappy like
warrior: 20% armour pen..
oh yeah... different designs for each profession..
With some deep planning I think this can work out....
plesepleasepleasepleaseanet!!!
back me up here guys and girls

Meh, im a fan of wings, probably due to the fact I used to play ToS alot.....
But yeah, wings would be nice, but I wouldnt want to have to pay 100k crafting for them, they should be a reward given like finishing the game (instead of greens) or make them resonably hard to earn, but not money wise.
But I would like to see wings on chars, especially looking at nightfall the extensive amount of winged characters.
That would be the only reason I would play paragon, if one of the 15k/FoW sets had animated wings.......
But yeah, make them hard to get, but as in PvE challenge hard, not "need 1000000000k to get this" hard, people should be rewarded for advancing through the story, not trying to find unerfed farming spots and spamming skills....

Wings have been suggested for 15k paragon armor as they have wings etched into the back of their armor already. I could see paragons with wings but it would be rediculous for all professions to get them. If I see a male warr in 15k glad armor with fluffy little wings, I'm going to puke.

Did u ever watch Gundam wing? A freaking 40' tall robot with fluffy wings.......
The reason the chars have wings in screen shots, is they have taken on the aspect of dwayna. Players get to take on "god head" and use skills related to the 5 gods for short periods of time. So says Guru.
dwayna is wings (I'm guessing)
what do u think the others will have?

Yes, Gundam Wing was awesome, lol. And we all know about the Dervishes avatar skills. What I was simply reffering to was that the back of paragon armor has drawings of wings etched onto it as they are the "guardian angles" of the Elonian people. Because of this, people were hoping that maybe the 15k armor would actually have wings sticking out. I still say if anyone gets wings, it should be exclusive to the Paragon.

Capes don't even render correctly on many characters. I think actual wings would just end up not rendering correctly and looking ugly.

Think of the penguins...wont somebody think of the penguins?
all in all im torn on this idea...overall id say no - its not really needed and im a big fan of its not broke dont fix it, especially if "fixing" it could cause more problems, redering, clipping issues, expense, expanding the rift between rich and poor and so on

Thats a good thing to consider...the wings could look like they're ripping straight through your guildcape (gotta love those cape physics!)

I concur with this here idea. People should get wings (or whatever other random glowy niceness might happen) for something meaningful and difficult in PvE, like the Titan Source quest or something like that. I mean, there are those shiny Rank emotes, but those are for PvP (which already get's the lion's share of interesting events, prizes, etc.). For those of us who are willing to wait years and years GLF-ing to complete the true stories behind the game, I think there should be a little something more. Wings, I think, would be a splendid way to commemorate that. Incidentally, so would a number of other things.
So I say that kang here has the idea, and that wings need not be the way to make it happen, but if ANet likes that, go for the feathery goodness, I say.

Make the wings a holiday item that you wear on your chest armour area.
I don't see a need for a new character inventory slot , and the item shouldn't have any stats. Well maybe something like 25AL.
