It takes very little time to map and change to the correct profession. It sort of keeps the feel of the RPG effect, where you have to travel to a certain town to become a different profession.
If you want to be in the military, you won't go to Hollywood, but rather go look at a place like Westpoint.
It's already convenient that you can change secondary professions, it's not necessary to be able to change it to whatever you want, in every town, at a whim.

That sounds similar to the pvp character not having acess to the priests of balthazar or rune trader arguments to me. Since the world is divided, there should be somwhere in the new areas where there is the option to change secondaries. 4 map changes does not take all that long to do, but it does seem rather un-neccacary to be forced to do so.
Just fix the retarded map travel they have from there now. What genius decided to make it so you can only travel to LA from there, or from your guild hall? Form a Tombs/Hero's Ascent group in your hall, but 2 members have to leave because only 6 are allowed in LA. Absolutely retarded. Hopefully someone loses their job over that lunacy.
Actually, if you think about it, this is a good idea, it's how they plan to keep Ch1 only characters from venturing to ch2, etc. Battle Islands is going to be a transportation hub. Though I do agree with adding the profession changers (in some form) to the temple of balthazar.
Also, I wish they would make it so if you unlock skills with one pve char, you can get those skills when you switch secondaries with another pve char.
Well, awesome sauce, that's a bit too free. It'd be easier, of course, but it'd take away a bit of the aura of a PvE character.
I say plonk a class changer in major cities (Lions Arch, and so on as well) as well as the Temple of Balthazar, where it is a hassle to run back and forth.
For what it's worth, by the way, the removal of attribute points were great. People can experiment with builds without being penalized and have to rebuild XP to change back to their old builds.
this would devalue the "customization". Every one would advertise them self as " I am a Wa/ and anything you want me to be"
I am from the old school, with the thinking of the game should not be too easy (I am already frown upon that free attribute point distrubtion... where are the refund points?) In any case, it would add on more confusion in finding team than it already is.
So you're literally asking to leave the game with the current update extremely inconvenient? There's no skill involved in mapping, and if you've earned the skills of multiple classes, I don't see why you should be forced to be only 2 even though you have spent hard earned money and time getting skill points and 1k for every skill... I really don't see how your stance holds any water.
For PvE make the option show up in the hero screen after you have the ability to do so from the npc as you would normally. I would be against them being in southern shiver peaks due to being able to skip Crystal.
For PvP only character, I think it should be at will.

wow...no offense intended...but you have to be the first person I've ever seen like the refund point system
/unsigned
just fix the damn only mapping to LA thing from battle isle
It's not introducing anything new into the game, it's only making it more convenient.
I really don't understand why people think this would ruin the game at all.
Here's how it went today in PvP arenas:
"Hey guys I'm a Me/Mo, but I can swap to Me/N in the desert if you want."
"Sure, do that could you for Life Transfer, ok?"
"Sure, but now with the addition of the islands I have to map 4 times, but I'll be back, ok?"
"Nah, we'll get someone else. By the time you get back here, set your skills, armor, attributes, and weapons we'd have gotten some faction by then."
"Shit. Why am I punished, when I've worked so hard to get all mesmer, monk and necromancer skills on this character? Why Anet, WHY?"
Here's how it SHOULD HAVE went today in PvP arenas:
"Hey guys I'm a Me/Mo, but I can swap to Me/N."
"Sure, do that could you for Life Transfer, ok?"
"Sure, one second please."
"You almost done setting your skills, armor, attributes, and weapons?"
"Yeah, I just finished, and I'm ready to go, lets get some FACTION!"
As you can see, option B is much more preferable to option A.
It would only devalue rping as much as atribute refunds already do.
Besides, everyone knows that all warriors are /Mo, all monks are /W or /N, etc. The majority of people don't frenquently change thier secondary, and the rest very rarely do so after forming a group. It would only devalue rping on a personal level imho.
At the very least, there needs to be a npc for this on the battle islands. The current amount of mapping needed is exceisve.

hmmm, so finish the game and get all 2ndries is easier than just mindlessly map around?... u had to tolerate some imperfections be4 they were fixed and u want all players suffer it too? and why u're talking about some 'old schools'? fyi alot of ppl here are playing since betas and majority of them consider free att points distribution an improvement, so speak for urself only pls
/signed - great idea

I'd like to post this again because when I originally posted it in response to chris nin00, but it didn't add it to the bottom of the list. So here goes, I hope it isn't bugged.
Ok, I don't think you realize this:
You can already do it!
It's not introducing anything new into the game, it's only making it more convenient.

Exactly Kaguya, which is why I fail to see how it is even possible for anyone to type '/unsigned' in the first place. This is already in the game, I'm suggesting they make it easier, it's not like I'm suggesting that you should be able to type '/jesus emote' or anything.
Not saying anything wrong with this suggestion, and I am sure it would make lots people's life lot easier... however, try imagin what the arena team finding would be like.
"I am a Tanker, but can also be a nuker or healer!"
"Me/MO or Me/N LFG"
"So which one are you?"
"Anything you want me to be, big boy"
And so on. Added it 100x, it certainly would add some confusion, might amost make team finding and change your skill time lot longer than actual playing time.
Now, of couse that is all in theory. I have not much better arguement, and the only main reason why I /unsign is it just sorta feel "wrong" (games should be challenging and not easy, and be restricted to rules. therefore, sometime extra work is to be consider fun)
However, I would say just change the mapping (Battle isle is of couse still as a temp area). Possibly adding such 2ndary changing NPC in guild hall or Arena zone (with a small fee?) but won't count on it be done any time too soon.
(and I want a /jesus emot too, as well as /marry and /mohammad)
