Why does everyone compare every suggestion to WOW... World of Warcraft ISN'T the only MMO with mounts. Anyways, the only feasable way to have mounts would to do it FFXI style, get rid of "traveling" and make monsters not attack you when you're on a mount. (Or something like that effect)

-Pratical Use: Unecessary for GW, unbalance for travel.
-Cool Factor: Very.
Therefore I think its good to add it, but have to modify its use to be more than just a transporation, but more like a alternative pet of sort, possibly for a new class.

Mission: Cataract of Scaropolea
Goal: Find and stop the Assassin Mojiran from reaching the Tower of Scaropolea before he has a chance to light the beacon and signal the Orrian fleet. The rest of his assassin guild will be trying to stop you. Kill them all.
Imagine a timed chase mission. All players are on mounts (mounts vary by class, but all give a 25% constant speed boost) and have to fight enemies that are specifically designed vs mounted players.
Players will still have all their skills, using new animations. Speed buffs will STACK with the mount speed boost.
The chase occurs along a river that leads to a mighty waterfall with a tower at the top of the waterfall.
So ya...i have been thinking abuot this too :P

edit: I realize that KD skills would be too powerful and Ele AOE skills would be mostly useless in a chase.
KD skills = would knock the rider to the side but the mount keeps running, you cant do anything until you "get up" back on to the saddle.
AOE spells like Lava front = These can be used as "cover" to protect your rear since you are ALSO being chased.

it is both a good and bad idea
good idea in intresting and very cool, but if it costs a lot, too much, no one will really be able to afford them on normal amounts of cash, and you will lead into the money>skill
If it was maybe free or just used in missions then i can say, yes

Just go play WoW make an undead warrior and bam, you have your wish... After 2+ months of playing WoW for 4+ hours a day, that is.

I can just see a mount running in gvg match ope we didn't bring ours.Nope this would be unbalanced .I can just imagine all the Monks out ther healing all the mounts as if a Rangers pet isn't bad enough.

wow is not the only game that has mounts! they popular for a reason
personly it would be cool if you as player can own
chariots
mounts
shills and other stuff.
I don't even think that has been done in in other moorpgs where you can own ships and chariots

SOOO FUNNY LOL, especially with the cut you part, I lol'ed at that, Ima start sayin ima cut you.
Back OT about mounts, it would take wayyyy too long to implement them, and for Lyra's idea (sorry hun) it would take even longer, first off you have to make a completely new mesh and skeleton for mounts, you have to make new "mounted" animations for all skills, and what everyone else that /notsigned said.
And actionjack, that, would be frickin AWESOME! But they couldn't incorporate it.
