Titles Suggestions
I have two suggestions for the Title system. If these are bad ideas, don't flame me.
1) Allow multiple titles to be displayed. The title system actually seems pretty unintrusive, I don't think it would be a big problem to allow multiple titles. Obviously, i don't want to clutter the screen, but several of the Titles are difficult to get, so it would be nice to display all of those in one shot.
There are a few variations possible here:- Display ALL of you Titles
Display All Maxed Titles
Display UPTO 5 Maxed Titles
2) Create Titles for "Guild Officer" and "Guild Leader".
These could be optionally displayed or not, just like Titles now, but would be another layer of identification when communicating with other players, especially ones outside the Guild.
NOTE: Both these suggestions would apply to me, but I am suggesting these legitimately, not as just mere bling.
EDIT: I'm mentally incapable, as I cannot figure out how to do a bulleted list.

To make a bulleted list:
- Create your list.
- Highlight your list.
- Select the bullet (unordered list) icon.
- Done.
I think you should only be able to display 1 title. If you have more - rotate them around or pick the one you are most proud of attaining.

This would be a great idea!
But I only think you should have a max of two titles availble if they are going to have multible tileles.

I dunno why you'd need everyone to know you're an officer or leader for communications purposes... just ask. It takes 5 seconds. Perhaps if titles were customized within the 'G' screen and in your guild chat.

How about a money title for those who have the max 1000k in their storage?

Everyone can already see your guild, so how about a Alliance title. It would say the name of the alliance and then the tag.

Some way of letting others see in what alliance you are might be nice. But that shouldn't be solved with a title me thinks.

If they want to get fancy(and hopefully not too confusing), it would be cool to have a profile window you can customize for others to see. It would look like the Inventory window showing your weapon sets and armor(if you want the info displayed), all the titles you have and want to display, a welcome/intro/greeting text window, and guild information. Of course it would be viewable by clicking something, not just running a mouse cursor over someone's name.

Hi,
I think that your suggestions are wonderful and well thought out, Carinae Dragonblood. In fact, after involving a lot of time, gold, and effort I recently discovered that you can only display 1 title. This is very disappointing to me as if I knew this simple fact; I wouldn't have gone through the effort to get the second title to begin with.
Displaying 1 title only works against the Guild Wars game play by making a person pick or choose which one they think is pertinent. Does that make since? Why would they have involved their resources only to pick one of the titles at a time? Personally, I would spend less time seeking additional titles for my warrior per say, and spend more time just getting only 1 title (instead of multiple titles) for my 7 other characters. By doing this I wouldn't be as interested in perfecting my favorite character or all characters with master level or max level titles. The way I see things, part of the title system was to show off your experience, and inspire quality game play.
I think the best way to solve this would be to allow you to display multiple titles and only the max level of each category of titles (for example: you display Tyrian Master Cartographer instead of Tyrian Master Cartographer & Cartographer, etc). There's a certain redundancy to the example above and I'm sure that's not what you meant. However, I would like to clarify my standpoint by stating that you should be able to display Tyrian Master Cartographer, Hero, Drunkard, etc.
I'm sure ANET has a reason for why they limit this reward system of titles to only one however, to help inspire people to play more I would highly recommend for them to rethink the 1 title option and include all titles in the title system.

I'd say five titles at once would be way too cluttered

to help answer that question, you have to realise that the most effective use of having a title is to let people know that you are somewhat capable of doing something based on where you are and the title that you display. If you have a gladiators title and you're in Beacon's Perch offering people a run to Droknar's Forge, your title will not help improve your ability to get people in your group. But let's say you have a Master Cartographer title, people will know you are a good runner because you have run everywhere, and will join your group.
I mean it holds no other purpose than to show off, and there is already a title that recognises that you have multiple titles, so I dont think there's a need to have more than one underneath your name.

Just remember you are only pleasing a certain group of people who may already have their titles, while another group would be opposed to screen cluttering, which can also prevent one from enjoying the game.

None or almost none of the game's titles are worth showing off, as you can just grind them all. I took a break from GW over the summer and when I came back I saw some people with new titles like "lucky" so I dont know what those are about... but I really dont think you need to show off many at once

Not a bad idea but I would say only for guild leaders not officers. Maybe it can go in levels depending on what their guild's rank is
- r 1 - 16: godly leader
- r 17 - 100: divine leader
- r 101 - 300: legendary leader
- r 301 - 500: powerful leader
- r 501- 1000: skillful leader
- r 1001 - 2000: determined leader
- r 2001 - 4000: clueless leader
- r 4000+ : disgraceful leader
or something like that

Tame all pets in one chapter and get them to level 20.
Each chapter would upgrade the title to the next level.

I prefer a better communication system where you can send a message to the guild leader or officer without knowing their names (for example to send a challenge). Maybe some kind of whois command for guild or players.

This is very true, and as the titles work now you will have to change them up from place to place depending on what you do. However, I think it's a great achievement if you can obtain multiple titles without obtaining the one grand puba title of having max everything. Being part of an active guild I find it hard just to focus on one character to max out all titles, because I'm constantly switching between characters to help ppl out with different areas/builds. Therefore, I find it hard to focus on only one (maybe it's just ADHD lmao). Finally, I don't want to achieve all titles just the ones I'm interested in.

Doesn't the titles only display if you have the pointer hover over the character, or when you select the character? What about having this option available to all the users when they click on or select a certain character? Certainly this would reduce the clutter, and please inquiring minds while satisfying perfectionists?

As far as titles are concerned you don't need to show off more of them but they should, at least in my opinion, have a title for killing monsters by their types. Its not like killing massive amounts of guys is hard to do over time, but it does show commitment to the game.

Alternate - Build title
As opposed to changing the current title, How about adding some kind of Pre-Title adjective that shows which Elite skill your running. Useful for party formations, Short notification if Elite changes while in party. Just an idea
