Default Create-A-Skill Challenge: Part 2

Lets start With the Basics

What is the Create-a-skill challenge
The create-a-skill Challenge is a project to present Anet with a vivid and planned idea. At end we hope to have a good selection of skills (with icons) that have been balanced and aproved by the community. This will involve 5 steps:

Step 1 - Designers at the Nolani Academy of Arts will design icons for the skills, and provide rough ideas if they see fit.

Step 2 - These Skill icons will be taken to the Sardelac Sanitarium for ideas of skills that compliment them, the 5 most orginal ideas (and useful) for each skill will be taken onto step 3 [We are currently here]

Step 3 - Each icon with the 5 ideas will be taken to the riverside tavern were the avarage guild wars player will vote on what Idea this like most. After the skills have been voted for the'll be taken to the next step.

Step 4 - The Icons with there favoured Idea will be taken to the Arcane Repository where the skill loving members will help to balance them and make them fit more fluidly into the current game

Step 5 - Presenting the ideas to Anet, this will eb done when we have a large amount of ideas

What can I do?
This is currently step 2, Where its your job the creative and toughtfull Guild warians will be given the chance to create skills to go with the icons.

I have an idea for a skill, but no Icon can i still post it?
To avoid the flood of skill ideas, Icons will be needed to be submitted. If you would like to post an icon or request one to be made Follow the link to the academy and request it there.

Are there any Rules?
There are no rules but 3 points to bear in mind while creating skills
1. Try to keep it serious, Joke skills are often funny but can be kept to other threads
2. Does this skill already exist? If the skill you are thinking of is the same or similar to an existing Skill then rethink it, or find a way to add a new spin onto it
3. Remember the ultimate goal here is to create a well thought out set of skills for Anet. Anything you post here is subject to Editing, Balancing and any number of changes and by submitting ideas on any of the 5 steps you granting permission for Anet or anyone they deem worthy to use your work freely.

Will this work
Who knows? The most honest anwser i can give is most likely no, Anet rarly use ideas created by the community and a sceptical of using artwork from them. But hopefully this idea will stand out enough to make them reconsider this.

Now thats out of the way, here are the skills so far - So take a peek into my new skill bar!



Each Icon is called (for easy reference as they have no names) acording to its number and bar. So the Bomb icon is int he 1st skill bar and is the 2nd skill. So it is 1-2, while the nuke is 2-1. Got that?

Here are some of the basic skill ideas fromt eh icon creators, feel free to add to them, take from them or create an idea all of your own!

1-1
Ranger
Web Arrow
10 energy / next attack / 10 seconds recharge

This shot will deal no damage, but target and all nearby foe in its area of effect will suffert 50% movemet speed and 25% attack speed decrease, and last as long as they still remind in this area.

Bubble Blast
5 Energy / 1 Second Casting Time / 10 Recharge
Target Foe takes 40 damage and is hexed with Bubble Blast, for the next 10 seconds, next time that foe attacks, Bubble Blast deals an additional 40 damage and Bubble Blast ends.

Liquid Distorion
15 Energy / 1/4 Second Cast Time / 45 Recast
Enchantment Spell. Whenever you are the target of an enemy attack or spell, it is missed/failed and foe becomes blinded for 3...6 seconds.

Snow Storm [E]
25 Energy / 3 Second Casting Time / 60 Second Recharge
Target Foe and All nearby foes take 65...85 damage and is slowed for 5...10 seconds. Attacking foes are knocked down and blinded for 3...5 seconds.

Monk
Soothing Flame: 5e 1/2c 6r
Heal Ally for 30...54. If target ally was on fire, heal for and extra 30...54.
(made to combat paragons)

Cleansing Drink 5 energy Casting time- 2 recharge-10
Target alley is handed a drink that cleanses them of disease and posion and is healed for 17-57 if disease is removed

Energy Cost-20 Casting-2 Recharge-10

Mark of Confusion: For 1...10 seconds, whenever the foe becomes the target of an enchantment, hex, condition, or attack, that foe is teleported to the nearest ally or foe. That ally or foe is also hexed with Confusion with only the remaing duration.(Illusion Magic)

Nuke:
cost 25e 5s cast 60s recharge
attribute fire you and all foes in the area suffer 100...229 fire dmg
after nukes ends all foes struck suffer from desease for 1...6 seconds.

Silence.
cost 10e 1/4 sec cast 20 sec recharge
Hex spell, Target foe and all adjacent foes suffering from Silence cant use any shouts for 15 seconds

Create an Icey Ward at target Foe's location, for 6...12 seconds, foes in the area are knocked down each time they move/attack in the area.

Iron Blood
Adrenaline Cost: 8 |Cast Time: 1 Second|Recharge Time: 60s

Stance. For 30 seconds, your armor level is increased by 10...25%, but you take 50% more lightning damage, and your movement speed is reduced by 25%.

2-5
Wreckless Swing
Adrenaline Cost: 8 |Cast Time: 1/2 Second|Recharge Time: 30s

Axe attack. You swing wrecklessly at the target, sending him and adjacent targets into shock, disabling their attack for 3...10 seconds. You also have a 50% chance to hit the shocked targets, dealing 20...40 damage.

Ring of Fire
Energy Cost: 10 | Cast Time: 3s | Recharge Time: 10s
Flames begin to encircle your character, and then ripple outward, setting foes that they come in contact with on fire for 5...20 seconds. After travelling a certain distance, the flames detonate, dealing 30...80 damage to foes adjacent to the explosions. This spell causes exhaustion.

Hex. The next shout the target uses is Interuppted and that target takes 20....50 holy damage.

Enchantment Spell. For 10...45 seconds, the next time you become the target of a condition, that condition is removed and all adjacent foes take 10...60 cold damage.

1-8
Assassin - Mark of Toxin
Hex Spell. For 5...20 seconds, the next time you hit with a Dual Attack skill, target foe becomes poisoned for 3...12 seconds.

1-2
Ranger - Detonate Traps
10e|2c|24R
Preparation. For 2...16 seconds, whenever you use a Trap skill, it detonates when it is activated, dealing 5...50 fire damage to all nearby foes.

Elementalist
Snow Storm [E]
15 Energy / 2 Second Casting Time / 30 Second Recharge.
Ward Spell. Create a Snow Storm at target foe's location. For 3...15 seconds, all foes in the area move 66% slower, have a 10...30% chance to 'miss' with attacks, and take 10...30% longer to activate skills.

Oh I want to see more people giving out their ideas... So i'll just play around with the grammar with the existing skills:

1-1
Ranger
Web Arrow
10 energy / next attack / 10 seconds recharge
Fire a Web Arrow at target foe's location. All foes near the location where this arrow lands move 50% slower and attack 25% slower. This effect will end for each struck foe that moves out of the range where Web Arrow landed. This arrow deals no damage.

(I fixed it so that it doesn't necessarily have to 'hit' in order for it to be effective. So it'll follow the same properties as Ignite Arrows. I don't know how to work in a progression line if it was like a Marksmanship skill or something...)

1-7
Cleansing Drink 5 energy Casting time- 2 recharge-10
Give target ally a Cleansing Drink, removing poison and disease from them. If diseased was removed this way, that target is also healed for 17-57 health.

(I'd reduce the casting time on this one.)

2-2
Mesmer
Silence.
cost 10e 1/4 sec cast 20 sec recharge
Hex Spell. For 15 seconds, target foe and all adjacent foes cannot use Shouts.

(Followed the same skill description as Ignorance)

2-1
Elementalist
Nuke:
cost 20e 2s cast 60s recharge
attribute fire
All nearby foes are struck for 20...150 fire dmg. When Nuke ends, a toxic cloud spreads around you and after 3 seconds, foes struck by Nuke and any other foes in the area suffer from disease for 1...6 seconds.

(So in the unlucky chance that you miss someone with nuke, you go into a runner up prize of getting them with disease, because it has a wider range of effect than the nuke itself.)

Poison bomb. 5 e/1s cast/ 10s recharge
Hex spell. For 5 seconds this spell has no effect. After 5 seconds foe and all nearby foes suffer from poison for 10...25 seconds. If removed prematurely this hex has no effect.

Elementalist Water skill
Bubble defense 10e/1s cast/ 25s recharge
Enchantment spell. For 3...15 seconds if you take attack damage the attackers' movement speed is reduced by 50% for 5 seconds.

1-5
Elementalist Water skill
White Out {E} 15e/2s cast/ 45s recharge.
Hex spell. Foe and all foes in the area take 20...60 cold damage and are hexed with White Out for 10...25 seconds. While hexed foes movement are slowed by 66%.

1-8

Touch of Death 15e/ 3/4s cast / 10s recharge.
Skill. Target touched foe takes 30....85 damage and is Diseased for 3 seconds.

Target foes and all foes in the area are knocked down, take 50...150 fire damage and set on fire for 3 seconds. Foes affected by Nuclear blast are immune to conditions for 10 seconds. This spell causes exhaustion.

Target foe and adjascent foes takes 25...70 cold damage and are knocked down for 3 seconds
(*note this would act like meteor where it could miss if target is moving)

Signet of err 7. when activating this signet, you stand around like a jackass causing confusion among your entire team. after 10 seconds you disconnect from the game causeing your team to instantly resign due to lack of monk.

Elite Hex spell - 15e, 1sec cast, 45sec recharge
For 10-30 seconds, whenever target foe is the target of a new enchantment, that enchantment's caster loses 2-5 energy. When Mediocrity ends, target loses all enchantments.

Nice one. I really like that one, especially with the new Paragon class. It also matches the picture very well.

Hex Spell. For 8...18 seconds, whenever target foe is below 20...60% health, he suffers -2...6 health degeneration and moves 50% slower.

Mesmer, No Attribute
Mantra of Purity

Stance. The next Hex you cast lasts only half its duration, and target foe takes 7 damage per second of its remaining duration.

Elementalist, Fire
Burning Wraith
E 15, A2, R20
Spell. Target nearby foes take 15...53 fire damage and for each Enchantment on them, they take an additional 10...22 fire damage and are set on fire for 1 second.

Warrior Elite [Tactics]

5 Energy - 30s recharge

Parry/Block next melee attack skill and disarm foe. For 6...12 seconds all melee swings are disabled and yours for 6...2 seconds.

Dust Arrow

Ranger - Wilderness Survival

5 Energy - 20s recharge

If "Dust Arrow" arrow hits, target foe is blinded for 4...8 seconds.

I like 1-4,

Water Magic
Energizing Storm [Elite]
15 energy, 2s cast, 20s recast
Create a storm in your area (Same area as binding rituals) for 8-18 seconds, allies gain 1 health reneration, allies casting time of air spells are reduced 50% and water magic hexes last 50% longer.

Preperation. For 2-12 seconds your arrows deal earth damage and cause target foe to be crippled for 1-3 seconds if they hit.
