New armor foley sound effects in sept 20th update - annoying!
http://www.guildwars.com/support/gameupdates/
In the link above you can see the september 20th update, and see that, as part of the world preview event (that is, not permanent in prophecies or factions), new armor foley sound effects are added.
You might have noticed that 'chainy' sound youre making when you are walking?
It is stated that these sounds are published in beta form, so i find it appropriate to submit feedback... Theyre VERY annoying! They are too high-pitched, and i get a headache when walking with a group for a longer time (longer than half an hour).
I suggest to make them less eh, whats that word... agressive. Tone them down and make them more discreet. Please.
Some of my guildmates share my opinion.

Yeh, they sound pretty weird... plus, i don't think it's normal that ascetics armor make that kind of sound, it's just underwear
Perhaps implementing a minor option for the sound?

It is a nice try but light clothes should not sound like chainmails.

But can you hear it?
Its not about turning sound effects down, they said its beta, i gave feedback.
I hope they read or hear about this and refine the effects to be more appropriate for peoples ears and for peoples characters classes.

I can barely hear it. One problem.
My pet makes the same noise.
The leather coat of my ranger having jingly bits I can figure, maybe he has some keys in a pocket or something, but a cat?

I'm finding the foley sounds from other players in town rather annoying.

Agreed!
They really need to work on this a bunch. My ele armor sounds like I'm wearing platemail. It is very obtrussive and annoying.
Also, maybe you should only hear this sound like once every... 10 - 20 steps (randomly), not every single time you move like you currently do.

i sound like a freakin elf. normaly i like the GW sounds but i had to turn them off because this sound is so rediculously annoying, i cant stand them for more than 30 seconds.
i would gladly wake up to Danikas voice every morning after hearing this...

Horribly annoying sound, both on steel/cloth and leather armors. It sounds like a lot of saucepans or fryingpans have been tied to my characters.

I find that this is a tad annoying. Wonder what it would be like it a group. I'd die! Anyway, my ele has 1.5k aeromancers, and it sounds like chainmail. If you don't know what it is like, check out my avatar. I change it every 100 posts, so you have about 93 posts to look at it. I post about 2.80 times per day, so work out how long that is in days :P

very annoying indeed. my mesmer's suit sounds like hard leather and chainmail. and the high-pitched clinking sounds grate on my nerves.

of course you don't. uw farmers don't need sound.
turning off effects is not a solution, i want to be able to hear the diversion coming up, or the prot spells on my targets.

Also turning sound effects down takes half of the game feeling away with it, it is a crucial element of any game after all...

I did not like the new sounds at first either. But after several hours of playing, I have to say that I do start to like them. Of course they need some modification and adjustment, but it's a good start and I think it adds a more "real" touch to the game. I have to say, I do like the new sounds.

i dont know if it's just my computer, but it doesn't sound like metal to me. It sounds more like constant breaking glass. It gets so annoying.
Definately need to get rid of it, or be able to turn it off.

Armor sounds need to correspond more closely with the visible armor or go away. I logged in last night to play one of my girls and her dress was clinking like it was chainmail.
If this is going to stay it needs more sound groups. Something like:
Light Cloth
Heavy Cloth
Leather
Bone/Wood
Chain
Plate
Preferably with volume and pitch specifically adjusted for each armor in the game.
