Helping the *not so smart* People whp got hacked.
When you log on, have a window displaying where you last logged in.
Eg: ISP, IP, Time
Eg:
Last logged in:
Videotron, 129.06.69, 7:09 PM EST
All thought this might fool people that A-net could do something, At least they will be able to track down complaints to one user, or even deter users from hacking / PW steal.

Increased security is always a good thing. I'd also like to see, and correct me if I'm wrong, a limit on the number of times one can try a password to a particular login before a rest of 5-15 minutes is required before you can try again. I think this could cut down on brute force attempts against people who have their e-mails known but not their pw's. But I don't know if they do or do not already have this in place, but if it is then I guess I learned something new.

And what would this do? Explain how it actually helps anyone in any way that has meaning.

*logs in*
Hey, That isn't me!
Hey, My Mesmer is deleted!
Hey I'll take a screen of the Last log in, and send it to A - Net along with the info that my mesmer has been deleted!
A few other people send in the same ISP / IP and say they are hacked, and BLAM, nailed the sucker.

You can locate the person who has been accessing your account without your permission and use it as proof.

Slight flaw; not everybody has a static IP...

I like this idea, it doesn't hurt.
This and some other things like limited number of password tries, and when you log in, it tells you the failed number of login attempts since then.

In some countries this collides with the law. The providers there are protected via Dataprotection Laws and can't be forced to hand over that information.

My IP is dynamic and only changes if I don't connect to the internet for more than 7 days in a row. And since I'm on a fiber optic connection, that would mean not turning on my computer for over a week, as I connect instantly. For me, at least, dynamic IP's don't ALWAYS change every time you connect. I would assume this is true for many others as well.

or maybe like the diablo 2 system, if someone tried to enter your account, let the system give a message. I believe in diablo it is: "Failed logons since last time: xx"
So that at least you know it's time to change inlog address..

ip scramblers, fake ips, ect are already what most people use to steal passwords and such..
