Could GW get gameplay like this implanted?
I saw this video on the net and thought it was awesome; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOk5j-iGuTM
do you think that gameplay like this could work in a guild wars enviorment? The sword combat looks so cool. I wish the animations in GWs melee fighting was that good!
But also other things, like the crowd control and assassination. Could you imagine playing as an assassin in Ascalon City, and having to jump on roof tops in a hugh city and hide between tons and tons of crowds?
It could be cool, as GW additions down the road

The sword figthing has no place in a game like this, it would make it a button masher. the games is based on using the skil buttons, melee is just automatic.
and the assassins jumping around would be useless, this is an online rpg, not an action game.
Why dont you just buy assasins creed when it comes out :P

I meant animations.
As in that it looks cool. The thing is that, GW melee fighters don't parry, evade, block, roll over or do any uniqe moves. all of their attack are pretty similiar. maybe one or two has a green blur after a horisontel attack or something. I just wish that they would buff it up. even the factions sword skills look incredible similiar.
as far as the jumping around on roofs - yeah. but it could be used for other stuff aswell. imagine if you had class specific stuffs. high towers where only assassins could get special quests, or something.
I just like how it looks like the city is alive. it would be sweet if Lions Arch had real guards who would hunt down criminals, monks you could take quests from and get favor from, and see them walk around the city, chanting and praying. Just watching the npcs doing their daily routines.
I guess, sort of like oblivion. Even though I did not enjoy that game very much
It's kinda too bad that the npcs in GW just stand around. they dont have any houses to go into at night(and no day/night cycle)
also I don't think this belongs in the suggestion forum. it was not a suggestion to include in the game, but to start a debate if this would be possible in an online based enviorment. thanks

If you want that kind of stuff dont play an mmo, cause its not going to happen till we get more powerfull computers and faster internet connections.
Single player games can manage that stuff because the processor isnt having to worry about all the stuff that online games have to figure out. which is also why you dont see online rgps having cutting edge graphics and animation.
Takes alot more to make the same experience in an online enviroment.
and i still think teh assassin thing would be lame in an mmo, its not good to make areas that only a certain class can go to even if each class had its own special areas. why even play anb online game if you want to be seperated from other players. You can play either an MMO, or a single player game, you cant do both.

GW is not an MMORPG.
it was exactly because of stuff like this that they decided to do instanced gameplay.=)

Guild Wars may not be an MMORPG, but it's still an online game. That the point Exodeous was making, which went directly over your head.
Fluid Animations over the internet are still inpossible unless computers with 8.0GHZ processors, 4.0GB RAM, and 10.0MB/s internet connections are made. It won.t happen with today's techonology.
Guild Wars isn't a freaking console game.

Guild Wars simply cannot support this because the engine would need to be revamped for jumping, climbing, and a host of other things...
unless they adopt a physics engine from somewhere else.

The only thing I've noted that WOULD be a good idea for Guild Wars:
Character-Specific events in maps. For instance, towers that assassins could scale to activate a certain object in the environment.
However, each map would be created in a way that it is able to be completed without any specific character type, each one just makes it slightly different... if that makes any sense.

Yes It would be a good idea, Any imrpoovment at all apon graphics, animation, is a good thing, we don't ahve to discuss that.
Maybe eventually after many years the layers of updates will achaive something close to what we have seen in A.C. But definitvly not in this GW Trilogy or the next, it just isn't that type of game.
Guild wars could be chaged to 2D ASCII graphics and all you would loose is the graphics, but the gameplay would be the same.
GW is not focussed on that type of anymation, heck, thye cycles for the Sword and Axe are the same, So sure I'd liek to see mroe animaion, but no, its not going to happen. They would ahve to go back and change everything to Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and most likely C4 just to cope with the new system.
Now Plz somebody close this thread.

I'd like that too. Seems to me World of Warcraft has some pretty fluid animation.
I don't know why the heck anyone would think animations are a serious issue for online games. Animation-related information doesn't need to be sent to the server, it is handled client side.

I Still don't understand why people are so eager to chnage the game to something it's not. If you want it to be like A.C. or the Knights game, Get the Knigths game.

Because we think the game is not perfect, and that there are always room for improvement.
One would look into other game, to observer what work and not work, and how to best fit it into GW, to keep that fun ascept of it, while still keeping the root true to GW's game. Things like the Hero system could be attributed to this process.
If you like the game as it is, and deem any suggestions for new things to be bad.. well, there are other forum group like Riverside for you.

That is a nice looking game and the gameplay seems interesting but looks a little too grand for a supposedly simple to play game like Guild Wars.

Bingo.
GW is already very innovative. It would be fun to see where ArenaNet would be able to pull the genre.
This game(Asssassins Creed) like it's developers previous game, Prince of Persia, seems to have a high empathy on character interaction and movement. It's probably these that GW is being critizied for the most(no jumping, invisible walls, no swimming/climbing/walking etc).
Seeing a game like Assassins creed makes me wonder if it would be worth(and/or possible) for ArenaNet to update the engine with the Y axis, so we could get gameplay with jumping and that sort of stuff.
But how sweet would it be to walk into a jam packed asaclon city full of NPCs that felt like real individuels? NPCs you could push - who would notice you if you did something out of the ordinary and so on..

Guild Wars is actually an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) or else it wouldn't be under that section on Fileplanet and other websites.

I think gw is perfect, amazing graphics, easy interface, nice and easy to attack, idea of corpg... almost completely instanced, think about all the things you can do on this game that WoW can't, on Wow, you can't get npcs that follow you with the missions/quests.
