PK Instance.
Well... I've been thinking, GuildWars is all about organized competative play, GvG and Hero's Ascent. Thats what GuildWars focuses on.
However, I've been thinking about something totally radical, something I will call, at the moment, the PK Instance. The PK Instance is totally random, you are by yourself, with no organized teams. The goal is just fun, and entertianment of killing other people also in the area.
basically the idea is, There are 2~3 outposts around one certian "Explorable Area."
By going to that "Explorable Area" you enter the PK Instance. Your character is warped to a random point in the area (as to prevent spawn killing.) and you are free to attack absolutely everyone in that area. The area should be rather large, possibly the size of the entire mineral springs... and maybe more :/
The goal of this is to kill/survive long enough till you kill a certian amount of points. Each time you kill another person, you get half the points that the target had. Everytime you die, you respawn in one of the outposts and loose all points.
Basically when you get a certian amount of points (like 25?) your goal is to make it back to one of the outposts, where you can trade those points for pre-designated green weapons :/
yeah :/

trading for green weapons = no
exchanging for faction might be a better option.
I like this idea, though

Sorry, that is what you focus on in Guild Wars. There is actually a cooperative element as well. PVE is an important and loved part of the game. Lets not blanket all of guild wars as competitive.

This does sound pretty intriguing. I am definitely interested in this. Would there be mobs here as well. With strategies like pulling mobs to your opponents. Or will there be no enemies besides players and their pets/minions/spirits? All in all I think it would be fun. Kind of like and RA without being split into teams.

The problem is the lack of solo builds cappable of handeling this, we'd see and endless amount of touch rangers, Wammos and 55's. Tis a sound idea thou mr. ReiKei
*Edit*
Got a flash of insperation
Lets get realy deathmatch, I want Fire traps, falling crap, posion gas - And to take down those those solo builds - Domains! Put in the domains we love so much from dragons lair and urgoz. you know you want to

Yeah, and a huge battlefield with more than 8 players! Could be pretty fun.

I'm day dreaming of the builds now,
Trappers would own at killing from a far, set traps and run ftw. Innocent Sins walking thru fire traps and such... death!
As for the touchers and 55, The build always beats the cookie cutter, disenchant ftw! Touchers slow downs!
A massive 1 vs World arena, could be awesome. Should be like a ruined city or a few different landscapes.

It would definately be fun. I agree with Mr G enviromental dangers, eg pitfalls (cripple) lava that sort of thing would be the best. Groups of npc's could also run around who are hostile to everybody.

Only if this area has no effect on Cartographer Title and isn't required to go into or get past.
Maybe make it a new Battle Isle, with all the various Guild Halls around it instead of outposts. And when you go into the Guild Hall that matches the Guild Hall your Guild has you can trade your points with an NPC.

Id entirely love to be able to do that. ... of course you would have people in guilds all going to one ofthese areas and forming 'alliances' ripping through others with their numbers, and awarding the 'points' only to the person who 'killed' the other person wouldent really solve the problem entirely.. ah, you could hide peoples identity, I guess? okay im thinking too much. it would be nice if they could figure out some way to do that sorta thing, though.

I kinda like the idea, but...
Nerf touchers first then, dumb builds should not rule.

PK instance area would be kinda fun, just running around and killing other players. I always liked that when I played other mmo's.

I was thinking about the build idea. touchers and 55's
one way to prevent this is to have special skills and armour supplied to players..
Ok I didn't think too hard about it :P

cripshot ranger, shoot, run away, shoot run away, apply poison, shoot, run away... death...
tho i like the idea... tho support characters such as boon port/e denial/ interrupt probably has no place in the game...

Why nerf touchers? they are very very easy to deal with...
and what i was thinking was like
a HUGE battlefield with a max of 500 people and u can have teams if u want too and have 2 modes.... Hardcore where if u die u lose all ur stuff and the person that killed u gets what u dropped when u died, or if people are teaming up on u the drops are split between everyone....and another mode Softcore where if u die its no big deal u just spawn at a "safe house" BUT each one has their advantage.....when u play hardcore u can either kill people for their weapons or u can go to the end of the place and try to get to the cave at the other side where there could be a monster thats extremly hard to kill (think glint+shiro) but when u enter the cave u go into ur own "instance" the hard part is just getting there becuase of all the pkers that will try to block ur way but if u do happen to kill the monster it drops the most rarest green ever....and the softcore mode would be trying to get to the end and getting to the same cave as the hardcore mode but u dont have to fight the monster...inside there is an armor trader and a green weapons seller (say 20-40k ea?) it could be used as a pratice field for hardcore pkers trying out new builds or u just want the armor....but it wouldnt be easy to get there at all seeing as how many people would be pking anyone that tried to get there and lets have new titles where it keeps track of how many people u have killed, how many times uve killed the monster...the max party size would be mayb 12-16 players? but u can go lower like 3 trappers ect...but if the battlefield could only fit like 30 people...then it wouldnt be fun at all because u could easily get to the dragon but a max of 500 people....it would be a challenge unlike any challenge...the hardest one of all...and res sigs only work in the "softcore" mode....and if Anet did this it would bring many many hardcore WoW players to GW just for the pking...
theres my 2 pennys....

that would just start reminding me of runescape. And then everyone would complain that "ZOMG JOO STOLE MY URGOZ LONGBOW!!!!11!!!1!!1!"
And that would end up being more trouble than its worth.

Other than that I see nothing inheirently wrong with this idea, except that I could feasibly pop in with a dozen of my guildmates and not attack them, and all of us just run around owning everyone... How are you to prevent such a thing from happening in a "PK instance"?
