Hi there.
First of all i want to say im not starting this for myself but for some dear friends of mine.
I know alot of (working/holidaying) people are upset , that they couldnt join this years Halloween Event / The Return of Mad King.

And probably many of them already missed the last years event.

I know there are many pros and cons to this topic but think about it:

Mad King was only here for 24Hours and some ppl just cant afford that because of job-busyness or something similar.
(maybe also cant let their chars idle if you want to mention this, not everyone got flatrate )

So i just hope there will be a possibility to get some of these awesome items after Mad King is gone...maybe not a Collector but any other task or something.

So Anet and everyone else if you read this pls pluck up courage and bring in a way for these nice GW-players to get their hat too.

umm....i dont think you 3 read anything besides the topic or ?
otherwise you would maybe understand why busy people also want some fun and stuff (like these items)...and as i said it isnt for me, i have my 2hats.
please learn to read (and we dont want anything on a silver tablet...)

A lot of people really wanted to be there, but couldn't because of work/school etc. If it was in a weekend, then fine, but now on a tuesday, I can see how many people would have to miss it. I missed a lot myself too, so I couldn't get hats for all my toons.
The Dragon Festival had collectors too, which imo was a great idea.

So yeah, I will /sign. A collector who will be there for maybe 2 days or so, in Lions arch and Kamadan, handing out the 2 hats for whatever seems best. (collectors items, money?) I'd gladly pay 5k each if I could get both for all my toons this way.

My only hesitation to signing this comes from the fact that Anet clearly stated in advance that they would not have a collector (Gaile said it herself) and that the opportunities to get the hats would be in the times the Mad King came. Because of this, many people made sacrifices to ensure that they got hats for their characters. I only slept a couple hours last night so that I could be on for the first few appearances of the mad King. I even set my alarm to wake up when he was scheduled to arrive then went back to sleep afterwards. I believe it would be unfair to all those that sacrificed to be there during the scheduled times. For future events, I think that a collector would be a good idea. It has been used successfully in the Dragon event and I feel that if it weren't for Anet being busy with nightfall that we would have had a collector that hung around after the Halloween event as well.

I'm curious why your friends couldn't be there for any of the mad king's appearances. This took place over a 24 hour period so unless they work for 30 hours straight, I don't see why they couldn't have gotten at least a hat or two. Even if they couldn't be at their computers, they could have just been afk and still received a hat.

(me too) ...my only advantage is that my friend who also plays gw idled a few times for me...thx again honey

edit: weekend would have been fine yeah, but Tuesday + only 24hours -> think many had no chance to join

i read all u said and still think is a bs, i work all day aswell and dont have time to do in game things i would like and im not making stupid petitions, if your friends want hats tell them to stop working, not to change whole guild wars because of them

I'm neutral on this but I'm in total agreement with winkgood's point about it being unfair to the people who actually sacrificed to be there at the event... (like me :P shaved off a couple of hours of sleep so i could attend three of them). Boy was I tired....

Anyway, while I'm happy for events like the dragon festival, where you get to grab the special item after the event, I also think it should be alternating. Some events allow you to get it afterwards, some don't.

Otherwise, I'd like to ask for wintersday goodies and a chance for the green weekend again as well, since I missed them.

And in the end... well, it's just a hat....

(which clips your hair, lol)

I don't think it would make that much difference. The basis of it is lack of time and/or not flat rate (didn't know there were still places with this problem as most internet prone countries have gone monthly or something similar, even if it is dial-up). So if that is the basis, and the solution would be an orb-like collector, well wouldn't that take up about the same amount of time to collect-farm-buy the items needed as it would to just leave GW on for a couple of hours afk.

Maybe for wintersday or next halloween, but not for this one. An event should be followed through as it was announced (barring errors/bugs that affect the whole)

I've missed some events too, but I that just goes with the game.

A collector for the current event would be nice. Also - 48 hours for future Mad King type figures. Having 2 evenings to play would give far more people a chance to attend.

Additionally, I'd like Anet to consider something I suggested in another thread. Have a /preorder style command to summon any "unlocked" hats (i.e. ones that have been obtained) for any character, at any time.

That would take the stress out of obtaining the hats (only need to do it once), eliminate the storage issue (summon when needed, delete when not) and still be unique for the people who "were there" (not an issue for me, but I know some people get uppity at the idea of their items getting less special).

And we read what you posted and your post is bs. You want US to quit our jobs to get a hat? I'm sorry that i'm not young anymore to live with my parents so that all I do is eat, sh*t, and play. Not saying that's you though. The OP had it lucky to have his wife afk for him while he was gone. Me, I work 5-6 days a week, 12 hrs a day. Hell, I don't play but for about 1- 1/2 hrs a day, except for when im off, then i'll play for about 3-5 hrs max. We all have REAL lives to live, families to prioritize. YES I WANT MY FREAKIN HAT lol! Me personally, I was able to get one of my characters a hat, which is all I need. I'm not trying to go for one of each hat for each one of my characters.

What's so important about keeping the hats rare? So what if the hats become common, just hop onto each character you got and show them that your more elite cuz you have more hats of the same kind than that guy does? Maybe he'll have less of a life than you and beat you on that bet. GG to him.

Maybe not this time, but with the next event, yes, please try to have a collector onsite to give out the hats later. I don't wait till Santa(lol) gets here on Christmas Eve to ask him for a hat, i'll go to the collector (Wal-Mart) and get one my damn self! It'd be nice if that would happen ingame! Let's all stop trying to be elitists, bigots, selfish people and share in the glory of the holidays! They are called Holidays, not Hellidays....

Holy crap Jongo that sounds like a hella good idea there bro! I never thought of that! That way, you could throw the hat away after the holiday and just "/halloweenitem" or "/xmasitem" it back into your inventory whenever you want. And they could still have a 48hrshowtime/collector afterwards thing for the newer players of guild wars. I just want for me and everyone else to enjoy what guild wars has to offer, not be the only one with a Santa hat that i'll show off and when someone asks me where i got it, say "from yo momma" lol

I really don't see the big deal about hats. If you were there, you got one. Woopee. If you weren't then you didn't. So what, its not the end of the world.

I didn't get a Tengu mask from the Factions headstart thing, but it doesn't mean that when I see someone wearing one I start crying and whining about how I didn't get one.

Having a hat doesn't make you special.

I am sorry people had to work, were away or their ass was covered in tapioca pudding. I missed last year, didnt get my hat. Boohoo. So i got one this year.
