PM Option
What about a pm service? Like a mailbox NPC.
An NPC in every big town like ascalon, LA, Kaineng, Sunspear Senctuary..
That NPC is like a Ranger/Hunter like type with an Eagle on his arm or shoulder that spreads out mail to players.
For 10 - 30 gold you can send items/gold/messages to buddy's.
When you are going in to a town and you've recieved a pm you get a message in the chatbox that says you can read the letter at the mail npc.
what do you think about it?

In terms of sending messages, there doesn't need to be an NPC. All you need is a PM "mailbox" kind of thing, where PMs go when you receive one when you're offline. Adding an NPC for that wouldn't be worth the effort.
Sending items presents a security issue. Normally, if someone else logs on your account, then they have to have another computer with GW on it to be able to give items to their own characters. With this new item sending system, they would only need to be on your account to transfer your items to their account. I'd suggest just sticking to give items to people when they're online the normal way.

Good point skuld, but i've met plenty of people in guild wars who i don't know outside the game, don't know their email, xfire, or even what guild they're in. yet i'd still like to leave those people a message.

I like the idea. I remeber many times having someone I don't know enough to give them my e-mail, but want to pass something along and never have the chance too. Also, there are those people you DO know who check their e-mail once in a blue moon, but maybe would check a game related message. It could pop a small line up when you log in saying you have a stored PM. Gold though? No real need I would think, other than to be a cash sink for ANET.
