The color was simply because without having different colored armor, everyone would look more or less identical which would be boring.
But as for styles: This was not for cosmetic looks, but for functionality. Huh? As it was, each armor function was tied to a certain style. This "gave away" what armor you were using, which could lead to unfair advantages as roleplaying characters had their armor function masked while PvP characters had their armor function visible. For example, if I saw a Warrior running around in PvP Gladiator Armor, I knew what it's effects were, I knew the Warrior had some extra energy. But if I saw a Warrior running around in 15k Kurzick armor, it would be impossible to guess what armor he was in. In some cases, this could be exploited as knowing is half the battle. PLUS, since there are only 3 standard paragon/dervish armor styles, Paragons would only have THREE different armor functions in PvP if they kept the old system. By allowing the mix of armor and function, they allowed Paragons and Dervishes to have more than 3 armor functions in PvP.
So with that in mind, /unsigned.

More PvP skins should be unlockable but not leet weapons like Felblades and Chaos Axes as it kills the purpose of prestige weapons......
