You can't map travel to Ascalon because you've never been there. Nowhere can you map travel until you character has physically entered the town.

Keep it that way.

And if a level 20 with 5 level 10 henchmen can't fight/run his way back to Ascalon - He doesn't deserve to be there.

Plenty of missions warp you to a new location, without expecting you to manually walk through the gate.

I've never seen an Assassin or Ritualist in Ascalon - I doubt it's because it's too hard, but more too boring to bother venturing that way. I've ran lvl 10 characters through Shiverpeaks to get to LA, but I'd never bother doing the reverse. It'd be nice to visit, but the time/effort isn't worth it.

then how about all the Assassin or rits that have protector of tyira title. Both my Assassin and Rit are able to map to Ascalon as they ran themselves there.

Saves the hassle of looking for a run. I'm okay with teleporting backwards through a game. You'll likely play it forwards anyways, which means you would "play the game" like some here are saying. Just one convenient teleport to Ascalon city. Then you can help new gamers and relive all the early Tyrian quests and missions in the order it was intended to be in.

I could see having a few quests for foreign characters to help them lead the way, for example a quest that leads to the Iron Tooth Cave, one that leads to Piken Square, etc, but to be warped straight to Ascalon City? It doesn't take that long. I helped a guildie a while back fight from LA to Ascalon City; we did the whole thing in about 90 minutes. And that was taking our sweet time, too.

That would not really be helping, since a level 20 can do them all alone, wich would put the new players one or more missions forward without them learning anything. It's things like that that keeps nooby peoples in gw, since they never get the chanse to learn.. later in the game it can just be too hard for unexperienced players to learn anything at all.

But then.. that is just my opinion..

I understand and appreciate that point of view and sometimes that may be right. Sometimes when I first started GW, I still learned anyways having a lvl 20 tank in my team. And sometimes, like you said, I didn't learn much during the jungle missions when I just let two experienced gamers do all the stuff with planting seeds and stuff. But the way it is now, that happens anyways. And why not save the 90 minutes or less of having to run there?

So now we can buy the mappers titles? Do we really need to dumb down this game any more for the cash rich players?

The run back includes sections that you would have to work through quests, so the net cost in time is less than an hour. Admittedly, I did it with a barrage ranger, which was a little unfair on the level 10's.
