Well if you don't want to outfit your heroes, you can always use hench or just use the heroes without any special equipment.
Regular hench take their share of drops too, you have to sacrifice something for the extra control you get with heroes.

vikdog, I think the intentions of your suggestion is good, but the implementation would need work. As long as I can get a full set of items without taking up my inventory space, that'd be great.
However, it'd be even better if their items and equipment were kept seperate, and ideally, they'd be able to buy their own weapons with their own stinking money. It'd be nice if they had their own inventory and you could trade with them at merch rates... IE if they get a sword drop, you can buy it from them.
Another thing you can think about is that heroes don't *need* the best items around and to me, unless you are doing pvp, a max white drop would be fine for them.
EDIT: the same thing for runes. But I do agree with you in spirit. IMO if a hero gets a split of the goods, he should cost me zip.

You know, I never actually thought of that. Customize your Heros like you would a PvP Only character and give it the "cuomized to..." lock and value of 0g would prevent any economy issues. It really is tough to equip 16 Heros per character and their armor. Heck, I only have five PvE characters...5x16...yessh, 80 NPCs. One I gave Ssaki's Sword to Koss on my ranger and forgot about it. I thought I lost it. Would help so I don't have to move items to various NPC Heros when using them on a different character.
I think this would help use manage the shuffle of weapons around characters too, but would also would lighten the load to have in storage weapon/insignia wise. Make them only able to equip customized weapons with stats you've unlocked with Balthazar Faction or ID'ed in PvE. I like this idea.
/signed very much so!

Why make players have to equip Heroes with items that drop for the player (or the player buys) when the Heroes take their share of the drops?

Going by most of the posts you get about Heroes, its seems that alot of people basically want them to work using the PvP system inside PvE.
Unlocking skills, upgrades, weapons, runes, etc etc etc!
I wouldnt mind, but you have to remember that its PvE.... not PvP!
Weapons arent what need fixed with Heroes. We need to be able to have more then one armor set to we can use different runes (if you want to), and allow them their own storage space to hold extra armor.
