Focuser class
The focuser class trains in meditative techniques to such degree that he can reorganize his body and mind, focused towards his goal. In focusing his mind, he gains the ability to act as various professions, but temporarily loses the ability to switch to other roles.
This class can effectively play as warrior, elementalist, or monk. However, whenever he uses skills linked to one attribute, he suffers a 1-2 min cooldown on all skills not linked to that attribute. That is, even though he might switch roles and be adept at any role, he cannot switch between roles at ease.
Switching into a role activates the passive attribute gains detailed below.
This is a rough idea, comments appreciated.
Attributes
Focus (primary): reduces cooldown time penalty for switching roles.
Aspect of Fighter: adds self-healing capabilities to Fighter spells (these include melee-range magical attacks).
Aspect of Healer: increases effectiveness of healing spells (these include healing, res, and protective skills).
Aspect of Wizard: decreases costs of Wizard skills. These include AoE, direct attacks, and perhaps summons (see my idea of maintenance cost in the summoner thread).
Because the bonuses do not carry over to the secondary profession, this class can be balanced such that it is almost as viable as the corresponding classes, and yet the main advantage of using this class is diversity rather than added effectiveness.
